non favoured class

Post by Madcap »

I would like to use an elf as a tank, but with the favoured class restrictions, would it be worth it? For the first go around I want to limit the multi-classing. I also like to use a dwarven cleric.

How does the experience penalty work?

Any suggestions?

The way the experience penalty works is that you incur a 20% experience penalty for each class seperated by more than one from another class not the favored class.

For example: Your elven tank. I'll say he's a fighter. So you have a level 5 fighter going along until this point he has had no experience penalty. But now you decide to take a level of thief. Neither fighter or thief is your favored class so you pick up a 20% penalty. Going back to our level five fighter if you had decided to take a level of wizard the favored class you would not have incurred any experience penalty. If you had a level one fighter and then took a level of thief there would be no penalty because you had the two classes within one of each other. So as long as you alternate or they do not grow more than one level apart you do not have any penalty.

Now I have some questions. Say we made a elven cleric 1/fighter3/thief 5 that would get us 40% penalty because we are getting it from two classes any way you look at it. But if it was 1/2/5 would it be 40% or just 20%?

So an elven fighter would have no penalty as long as he/she takes no levels in other classess, besides the favoured?

Cool, thanks!

20%.
