Korgan
Viconia
Edwin
Haer'Dalis
Jan Jansen.

And your protagonist as someone evil.
Cartoon Law III
Any body passing through solid matter will leave a perforation conforming to its perimeter. Also called the silhouette of passage, this phenomenon is the speciality of victims of directed-pressure explosions and of reckless cowards who are so eager to escape that they exit directly through the wall of a house, leaving a cookie-cutout-perfect hole. The threat of skunks or matrimony often catalyzes this reaction.

I agree, though I never liked Haer'Dalis
and uses Minsc instead he can do well in most parties even C.evil (just keep the rep. up a little)

I played with the above party, but Haredalis was quite useless in the end, he was no great mage, and i never dared sending him into battle, so all he could do was identify my stuff and play his song. So now i will use Jaheira instead. Using Minsc seems very wrong, taking away the roleplaying part i think.

Minsc + Edwin = fight, does it not?

I agree, Jaheira is a better choice from a roleplaying point of view.

Depends how you look at it if you see roleplay as "I am evil therefor I only choose evil NpCs" or as "I need a good and strong party to get through this mess" if I was in the given situation as the main chr. is that would have been my choose to pick who I think is strongest to get the most powerful party. Therefor that is more roleplay for me than to pick some because of their alignment.

Cernd makes a good substitute for Jaheira. This especially if you don't need another fighter (Korgan is enough in my opinion).

I changed Haerdalis for a custom made bard (with 18 in dex and int).... better with missile weapons, more spells and since this character is a Skald, helps a lot more with his song (Korgan and my main char kick b****). The only good char I like in this party configuration is Imoen.

Remember to equip better Viconia asnd the Skald, they are valuable as reinforcements in a close combat.

I did the following, and I everything was very easy.

I was a bounty hunter/fighter dual clas at just after the game starts.

At the begining of the game i picked up everyone. When I left the dungeon I dismissed everyone except Jaheirra. I got Krogan and Viconia, and went for the Edwin quest. Later I picked up Jan since I thought I needed an archer. I also had Hear'dalis for some time, but realized he was too weak. When I continiued I dropped ppl out of my party realizing that I don't need them. Jan's x-bow is too slow and i was a thief myself so i didn't need anotherone. Hear'dalis has too low HP to be a fighter and his spells s!ck, so I left him. I was thinking for not leaving out Jaheirra, since she already had quite a lot XP (after I completed all the quests in chapt 2), but I didn't need two healers.
At the end I only had the evil guys (viconia, krogan edwin) I had the celestial fury + another good katana, and the boots of speed and that did short work of monsters. In chapt. 6 I realized that Krogan had only 20% of the kills (he can't kill anything. me and edwin sweeped the terrain, before he had a chance to HIT), but since in chapt 6 he had LOTS of XP I didn't dop him.

This way the XP was divided only by 4 and my party was very experianced. That's why i think smaller parties are better.
Conclusion: Stick only to the evil guys...

Sounds like a good party Foss. It is true jan jansen isnt very good, but he is the only thief possible if you are not one yourself and want to play evil. as for jaheira/Haerdalis/ cernd they arent really needed, but the more the merrier..

First of all, using Minsc in your evil party IS good from a rollplaying point of view! Rollplaying is about interaction and the best interaction is between Edwin and Minsc. And just because Edwin and Minsc eventually come to blows doesn't mean you have to miss their great dialogues.

I'm currently an evil party:

Me (Kensai)
Korgan
Edwin
Viconia
Jan

Valygar is in my sixth spot at the moment for the sphere quest. Just use all the other NPC's for their quests (also better from a rollplaying point of view).

Anybody else think Viconia is a bit useless? I don't even use her spells and that's the only reason you should use a cleric IMO.

I use Viconia's spells all the time, though in my party she isn't a "healing cleric"...more along the lines of an offensive spell / party defense one.

Most often, I give her a Girdle of Hill Giant Strength, so she can wear suitable armor, and eventually let her use the CF.

by chapter 5, she's a formidable addition to any party.
