“Caw, Caw!” The call of the wild calls you. Are you listening? Do you dare challenge their power? Do you dare invade? Nature will always triumph in the end.

The great thing about being a Frosh is when you pledge you get a "Big Sis" an upper classman from your sister sorority to help you "Learn the Ropes" so to speak. She in turn will introduce you to the Frosh's in her Sorority. Wala...Tybaltus=Party Animal...

I would have said that I wouldnt plan on joining a frat, but as of late, hell knows what Ive been talking about. I mean, might aswell be spontanious, right?

When you leave home for the first time, and go to a new place ie: College, it can be intimidating and lonesome for some people. Fraternities are like a ready made peer network that help establish you socially as an "Insider" making the transition less lonely and more secure. You really are afforded a certain level of acceptance simply by being part of the group.

You seem to be a very social and friendly person. I would highly recomend it. You can always drop the scene if it isn't your style, but it would be a bummer to miss out on your chance to pledge.
Some of my brother's best clients and business contacts are people he was in DE with.

As I said, nothing is out of the question, so I have no idea what Im going to do once I get there. Its all up in the air.

I have a generally low opinion of social/service fraternities because I went to a smaller school and the only difference between me and the other guys in my dorm is that they paid money to hang out together and I freeloaded. The only downside was that I couldn't go to the weekly chapter meetings (no big loss, as far as I am concerned).
However, our friend Scayde is right that at larger schools (such as the U. of Texas, Florida State U. or the U. of Michigan), where plugging into the social scene may be intimidating, fraternities provide a nice group to introduce you to the scene and a built-in network of friends.
I also recommend joining an academic fraternity once you declare a major because this provides you with study partners and networking opportunities for future employment.

Also Honors Societies in your respective field will sometimes offer you an edge in the post grad job market.
