Minsc is in a cage for a reason... leave the nut in there. And Jaheira too while I'm at it.

Minsc is an OK tank and one of my favorite characters for his funny dialog. If he is getting in the way you may want to change his default script to a less aggressive one. Search the forum for "AI scripts" and you will find lots of info on this.

If you are looking for alternatives for a front line fighter you could use Korgan the dwarf - he is found in the Copper Cornet in the slums district.

Korgan will also be agressive so you may have the same problems. A solution besides the AI script change would be turn off the party AI (artificial intelligence) on the bottom right of the screen - then control each of your party members directly and pause to make changes in tactics.

Nope don't use Minsc. Later you will find MUCH better NPC's (Sarevok!)

(Minsc is okay in the start of the game)

Take him!!! he is a great tank and he is one of the few that you can take from the start and do whatever you want to. Just like Imoen in BG1. You get to choose almost all the stars your self and this gives you a great versetality. :p

Keep Minsc.........when u like roleplaying hes ure man, not only cause u get him from BG1 (well at least I did), but u also take him from the beginning (which gives him more exp then the rest allready)......Then there is the fact that hes just completly psycho in his own way.....which makes him IMO one of the most funny characters

If you just like powergaming Minsc isnt bad either. he can deal alot of damage with 2handedswords or just 2weaponstyle with any weapon you can think of. In most of the battles I can relly on him.......and frankly, its a rare moment when he dies :)

In the end its ure own dicision.....but taking him along is a good thing to do.

I prefer Valygar as the Ranger for my party, but Minsc will do good work for you (Lilarcor in the beginning and then 2 weapon style later on) and is of course, worth it because of Boo and his comments.

I feel the same way. If you have used these people before why take them again. There is just as good NPC out there. I took them the first time around but would never take them again. But let them out for the EXP. HEHEHEHE

I don't even let 'em out for the XP. I killed Minsc in BG and Jaheira's a whiny b1tch so she can just rot for all I care. I had enough of her in BG.

Yes! Jaheira does indeed suck...

But minsc is not to bad... Think about it,,

By tob its all about the weapons, and you get to pick and choose with minsc becouse you get him so early

Consider in early tob it could be Minsc using staff of the ram or Dueling Crom / Foa vs Sarevok using Silver sword, warblade or soul reaver (IS that is? The +4 evil sword...)

Then, who is a better fighter?

COnsider that at high lvls armour of faith really makes a difference (15%?)
And he can maximise fire and cold resist without items as well thanks to ranger spells (Vere usefull in many circomstances)
Dispel shadow door or lower lvl invisibility
And cast a few other usefull spells....

His bezerk gives vere usefull immunities, and nice dmg bonus.. even if it is a little unpredictable

Personally..

If you dont have the Grandmastery fix patch, take minsc over korgan or Sarevok, make boo proud.

What kind of Ranger would dualweild a Hammer and a Flail? And what kind of Ranger goes Berserk? Two more reasons aside from me killing him in BG because he's a nut.

If your Rp-ing, fine then.. Give him something more Rangerish...

Im talking on milking the char though, getting the most out of em, not everyone is an rp'er

I preffer to rp, powergaming can be fun.. but its not that fun
