Solo sorc question...

Post by Vicsun »

I'm currently soloing a sorc and I have a problem... How do I disarm those peky traps. I have a rabbit which dettects them, but it can't disarm it. I tryed making a spider walk over it, but it doesnt activate it (so it's activated and wasted on him). Then I also tried my familiar (the rabbit) but not only that it died from the trap, it also didn't disarm it (a trap with multiple charges?). My sorc can't just walk over it since he's a SORC and dies in one hit. I just don't know what to do...

Any help is apreciated.

Ah yes the pesky traps...which trap are you referring to? For traps that deal damage. Use stoneskin. If you are in irenicus's dungeon...you can avoid almost all the traps by HUGGING THE WALL. This means walking as close to the wall as possible. The traps in the room where you find the bracers and key..you can avoid the traps on the wall by hugging the upperwall, the traps on the chest..well there is no way to avoid those...except take them one at a time if you want then heal up...they should not kill you unless you were less than full health.

Which trap is making your life so miserable?

Try mirror image if you're of too low level for stoneskin yet.

Try shield also (stops all magic missiles).

If you are in Irenicus Dungeon, don't open any chest trapped with poison until you killed the dryads (and get their potion of antidote).

You should survive using these techniques.

But if you can give me more information about which trap is giving you so much trouble, I can help you better...

In irenicus's dungeon you can avoid all the traps that on the ground by hugging the wall to pass them. Don't open chests that are trapped except for the ones in the room where you get the portal key..(you can also hug the upper wall to avoid the floor traps here). open the first topmost drawer...magic missile...not much damage..you get a potion from the drawer anyway. Chest with the portal key. walk up next to it...damage trap...use a heal potion first then open the chest...poison damage. wait the poison out or use a heal potion...you should have found plenty...trap on the floor leading to the cambion...you can avoid this trap by hugging the lower wall. Wand traps...you should have all the wands unless you didnt have sufficient strength to force open the chest with a second blue wand...either way hug the wall opposite the lamps and you will also avoid this trap...(seeing a pattern here?)

vicsun i have just started trying to solo a sorc, and i found mirror image helped on all non-avoidable traps besides the poison ones-don't know bout those cause i killed the dryads (so i'm a bad person, wa wa wa) and just used antidotes-in irenicus dungeon. i havn't gotten any further yet though, so beyond that i have no idea. for the poison traps, if your main character has a neutralize poison special ability, you could maybe have your familiar trigger it, then antidote him?

Familiars cannot trigger the poison traps...there are 2 poison traps..one is the bookcase where you get the amulet of metaphysical amulet...and the other is the chest where you get the portal key...fammiliars cannot open chests of reach into bookcases...dont ask me why

aww man...dont do that...breaks the solo rule...(for me anyway)...you don't need that stuff. as a matter of fact you dont one bit of eq to get through irenicus dungeon as a solo sorcerer.

i know, but i'd seriously never played a solo character before, and never a mage type, so i was kinda nervous, and i thought, well just once couldn't hurt.....
