It's a tough situation. In my job, I have often punctured the side-walls of the tires on our company trucks (that's what happens when you drive across creosote....). Invariably, we take the tires to the repair shop and they say, "We can't fix the side wall hole, you need a new tire." I say, "Are you sure?" They say, "Well, we could, but the whole thing might blow." I say, "Go ahead." They grumble and say, "Okay, but we can't warrentee the fix."

I've never had one of those tires blow again. Except when I get more creosote stuck in them.... :D

I suspect that they might be partially right, and there is a certain danger involved with the patch possibly blowing. But given the rough handling, we are likely to replace the tire eventually anyway, and the temporary fix is good enough at the time. I suspect also that they are trying to get us to buy a new tire now rather than later, which would be more profitable to them... ;)
That there; exactly the kinda diversion we coulda used.

@T....yeah, it sucks, but it beats well water. :D As it is, I have to buy water from the store for drinking, as you can't get past the smell with what I have now.

Thanks for the beer ;) How's things with you?

Hello Gwally, hope your vacation went well :D

@ BS :) I sympathize, when they started using Colorado river water here, it destroyedwater pipes, appliances, killed goldfish and tasted like stagnant swamp water :( Another reason to stick to bottled beverages :D

Up here in West Virginia, there are stretches of the Ohio River that used to spontaneously burst into flame from all of the chemicals the steel mills used to dump in the river.

LOL! :D A few years ago I was on a civil service residential course, and we received a newsletter informing us of the fact that they were in the process of replacing old iron piping - which might explain the brown water we had to shower/bathe in  :D It looked like sewerage (without the lumps!!), but thankfully did not smell. I didn't taste it though :D

My wife and I are going to spend a couple of weeks renting a house down on the Outer Banks of North Carolina--in about two weeks' time. From having been there several times before, we know to bring bottled water in case there's a run on it in the local supermarkets. (There usually is. Tenants move in Saturday and Sunday, and when they do, there's always a run, as soon as people taste the stuff.) The local treated water tastes like it was sent directly from HLD's region in West Virginia. Sulfur has the most delicate aroma...

I got lost. :D :o I thought route 16 connected to route 495. Little did I know, the bridge I crossed uner halfway through, was 495. So I was looking for an exit for quite a while, and noticing a sign that said I was in a town I never heard of before, I decided it was best to turn around. Fortunetly I managed to find route 129 so that I could then make my way to 495, finish the job and get home. Here I am. An adventure I didnt think I had to do today.... :D Im alright, though. How about you?

See you could actually get annoyed at someone else. This was my fault. I just assumed that I knew the route correctly. Nope. :D But I learn from such mistakes. It only took an hour and a half away from the day. But I got to see new roads and new sites in the area. Whoopdi-doo! :D
