An interesting Halfling!

Post by lompo »

I'm planning to make what I think to be an interesting character:
Rogue (lv x) plus
Ranger (1 lv): TWF + hit points
Barbarian (2 lv): speed, extra uncanny dodge, hp and rage
(remember mr Samvise?)
Bard (1-2 lv): song (hobbits like to sing) and maybe the spell
"armour" can be handy

In the future if needed 1-2 lv of fighter could be added.

Stats:

str. 10 (a very strong hobbit)
dex. 18 + all the future increase
vit. 14
wis. 10 (the hobbits didn't proved to be all that wise!)
int. 12
cha. 12

I thought the engine would only allow you to pick up three classes (or is that NWN?).
Jesus saves! And takes half damage!

If brute force doesn't work, you're not using enough.

He's also going to suffer from tons of lost experience.

Nah, no lost exp. All his levels cept rogue (favored class for halflings) will be 1 or 2, which should result in no exp penalty.

If you ask me, it's a cool character. Enjoy!

How so? I thought the favored class status applies only against the *second* assumed class. If you add a third and a fourth, doesn't that character receive experience penalties?

No. As long as all classes are within one level of each other (with the exception of the favored class not being counted in this reckoning) there is no exp penalty. So you could take a level or two of every class, then build the favored class for the rest of the character's life, and take no penalty.

That's my understanding of it, at least.

Thats exactly how it works. I assume you were meaning the mage armor spell earlier. It won't prove quite as effective as you think. The spell and regular armor both provide the same type of bonus, thus they don't stack, only the larger of the 2 has any effect. If you went unarmored the spell would be a boon, but if you were wearing say studded leather the spell would only boost your ac by +1. There should be some magic light armor that would prove better than mage armor.
It is best to be thought a fool and stay silent, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
