Druid(shapeshifter) in ToB
Druid(shapeshifter) in ToB
Anyone played a shapeshifer to high levels in ToB? Was wondering how they fare at high level, solo or with a party of only 2-3. Does greater werewolf have the armor,thac0, and attack speed to do well, or at least hold his own?
You should ask Kovi cause he is the shapeshifter expert. If you play through SoA and get the bonuses in hell and wear the helm of the rock while shapeshifted to greater werewolf you will have good immunities to elemental damage which can be cool. Combined with the high magic resistance and maybe stoneskin I am sure they can hold their own in combat. I was however disappointed with their paws only being +2 enchanted so I changed that.
You can't handle the truth!
Yeah the spellcasting side of it is nice but the shapeshifting side kinda sucks, in my experience so far. Sarevok kills about 5 enemies for every 1 enemy that i kill in greater werewolf form. I figure if i'm gonna be mainly spellcasing even though i'm a shapeshifter, i might as well start again with a sorcerer.Kinda dissapointing, ToB is just the same as SoA in that there's no power in any of the chars except a mage or fighter.
Druid level up to level31 in ToB. Though GWW is the primary form of the shapeshifter in ToB because of the endurance (AC, resistances), but both attack side is weak (low thac0, damage and only +2 enhancement), so it is not enough for tough fights. In those you definitely need to use high level spells/abilites (the most important ones: Nature's Beauty, Greater Elemental Summoning, Summon Deva, Earth Elemental change).
It's been a while since I played a Shapeshifter, so my facts could be slightly off.
But in SoA, a Shapeshifter is alright, as the GWW form is capable of dealing out enough damage. Plus the bug that you can wear certain dragon armour scales helped as well.
In ToB, eventually I had to shapeshift into Greater Earth Elemental form. GWW form was too weak (Thaco and AC wise). Although it's a slight challenge to be a Shapeshifter, it's fun. Really!
