Silver sword--maybe a spoiler

Post by Luther »

Is there any advantage to giving the sword parts to the githyanki? I haven't tried the good route yet so have yet to see what happens. My party is good so to roleplay, I think it'd be right to give it back. Is there any reward for this or is the whole situation just designed to be a jerk and fight?

I honestly don't remember there being any advantage or benefit to returning the blade.

Personally, I love the Wild Mage's dialog, and usually just fight the silly git. The Vorpal sword is definitely one of the nicer weapons you can acquire. :)

It's a nice two-hander, if you've got somebody around who can manage that (and it's a good reason to do so). Has anyone successfully destroyed one of their major foes by using the silver sword's chance of causing of death?
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

It's a nice two handed sword, if you have someone who can use it, other than Paladin (they have Carsomyr, of course).

If not, it doesn't matter much if you give them the blade or not. Only other thing you miss is experience points for killing them, and that's all. No quest point or alignment change. In one of my game, Keldorn was the only two handed sword user with Carsomyr, and I was close to the experience cap, so I gave it away.

neato trick with silver sword or any vorpal weapons...for dragon hunting, while blue cast a spell triggered with lower resists and doom and greater malison. the dragon will not make the save and die of a vorpal hit with silver sword. works really for all vorpal weps....even though typically a dragon cannot ve killed by vorpal effects, I think, draopping saves and lower resist really makes them vulnerable.

@Fable: I've had a lot of success with the vorpal weapon on greater enemies.
It's been quite awile since I've used it though, but I think to remember that liches in particular were very vulnerable to it's effect.
They only have a save vs death of 10, so it's a 50/50 shot.
Beholders have also fallen to the vorpal effect numerous times.

@Fable:as UU said,it killed Firkragg for me with a vorpal hit, although it was my 4th reload.
@Silvanerian: Beholders are easy to get out of the way with the sheild of Baldaurun, I've never had to fight melee with them once I got the sheild.

@Morlock: the shield of balduran is good vs Beholders, true, but I never use it. You get the same effect with the original cloak of mirroring and Beholders are rendered useless with the ToB version of the cloak. - Except for Maze and Imprisonment of course.
And you can't use the Silversword with a shield.
