free kaitlin's prisoners help

Post by jet75 »

I'm at the part where Kaitlin asks me to free her prisoners but the gate can only be opened from the inside and to check some guy's house for an item that may be of use, in which i found a potion of invisibility. now what am i supposed to do? how am i supposed to get inside and unlock the gate? i can't find a path there. am i just completely missing something?

Drink the potion of invis and then go straight north of there. You will see a little opening guarded by a couple of orcs. Once inside that area follow the wall to the left and you will come to a gate mechanisim you can open the gate that way and save the prisoners.

I've killed the orcs in both camps and destryed all the barrels around the prisoners. When I talk to a peasent, all the say is "I have nothing to say to you." Kaitlin has nothing new to add, so I'm not sure what I've done wrong here so I jusy bypassd these XP and am now on my way back to Ulbrec after killing Ibik (the pesky guy with ogres on the bridge).

Things that I did that may have 'broken' the completion of the quest :
Snuck in and opened the gate.
Snuck close to the firestarter orc near the villagers and attacked him.
Opened the Highland gate.
Didn't talk to Evilclaw, but just attacked his guards and that sent them all hostile.

Maybe if I shoot at one of the Keg's of Blasting, the villagers may run out of the way...

Any help ??

Killing all the orcs in the village should free them, are you sure none have run away and are now hiding somewhere in the village? It's even possible (though unlikely) that one ran towards Torak.

I doubt attacking a Keg of Blasting will make any difference.

I actually think you need to destroy both of the kegs of blasting. So long as you don't attack them with fire, they won't explode and kill anyone.

Hi Eriks,

You said "I just used stealth. I never found that house... odd."

I used stealth as well and just pocketed the invis potion for later use by another character. You can find the "house" directly across the path from Kaitlin. It is really only the foundation and some ruins and not a real house. You have to search carefully but there is a box "buried" so to speak near the back wall I think. You can also use the reveal function to highlight it, if you have a problem. In case you haven't used that function. Pressing the "Alt" button will illuminate any treasures or doors (except unrevealed secret doors).

I never destroyed the fire keg, but I've always gotten quest xp. I think that you talk to caitlin and she says "ok now kill torak" then you kill him and talk to kaitlin again (getting xp). you needn't talk to any of the villagers and can in fact pick pocket them ;) .

I think I see the problem !

I killed the orcs around the villagers, then went straight in and killed Torak and his goons without talking to Kaitlin in-between. Ah well, looks like I missed out on that bit of XP...
