Relation between Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms

Post by ThorinOakensfield »

Are they 2 different universes? Or 2 different planes. I've heard that Paladine has met the FR gods.

Presumably all of the gods from the different worlds get together at divine mixers and deitical conferences, so Paladine would have run into some of the Forgotten Realms gods at some point. The gods of Krynn aren't borrowed from other mythos, like some of the Forgotten Realms gods (ie-Tyr), but that doesn't mean they don't travel the planes as well.

It's my understanding that all of the D&D worlds exist in different dimensions of the prime material plane. There is very little cross over between the two, although in BG2, there is the planar sphere quest to return the Knights of Solamnia to Krynn. You also don't see drow elves or halflings in Dragonlance just as you don't see draconians on Toril.

I find Krynn WAY more cool than FR, i like the dragons and the eternal struggle between Good and Evil. Wich i think is much more clear in Krynn. Huma rules!

Hey thanks...I started out as a Dragonlance fan and the chronicles and legends were a kind of starting point for me to the D&D spectrum.I loved Krynn but I felt it was too limited and too small of a world(example)max lvl 18 and both krynn continents could easily be put into faerun.I never could understand how a lvl 20-22 mage named raistlen could beat a 40/40 mage/cleric Queen of Darkness.

Well, Krynn still exists. But there a being published no new novels. After the magic disappeared from Krynn it was kinda over.... :( Sad but true.

Another bit of info: Ive been playing Neverwinter Nights past few days and was reading the info on the "Bag of Holding" and it refered to krynn as a far off world(also talks about kender and a city inside of a bag of holding)(now we know how they fit everything in their pouches eh?)

I guess I stopped reading Dragonlance when all the gods left the Kyrnnspace to the mortals and retreated to the planes. I think dragonlance sucks now.

I always suspected both Tiamat and Bahamut (the good dragon god) were Takisis and Paladine from Kyrnn. The Planescape books never really made it clear.

Also Tiamat was able to reincert herself in Toril and gain back her lesser power status. Not much is said about the dragon god Bahamut in Toril, if he even cares about Realmspace.
