Use any Item is a TOB skill, hence question should go in the TOB forum.

use any item allows you to use any item as long as you satisfy any minimum stats. you can use valygar's stuff, but I seem to recall that there are some pretty high minimum stats to use his cloak of the high forest. not sure. if you want to cheese it you can drink potions to boost your stats, when the potions wear off the item turns red, but is still equipped.

I was not aware a decision had been made about the fine line between SoA and ToB. If you install ToB, it will have a huge effect on SoA as well.

For ToB story spoilers and rants, I'd point anyone to the ToB forum. For the rest, it's a grey area.

What do our friendly neighorhood mods say? Fable?

The categories should be guides, not rules. Goodness gracius, we're adults, or most of us are, and don't need to obey highschoolish rules that exist only for macro level purposes of preventing large threads from happening in areas where other people do not want to read them. A simple question like this should not spawn a thread that is annoying to the readers of a bg2 forum, so I personally don't care if the trait is tob or not. Shoot.

Besides, you could get high level abilities while still in soa if your level were high enough, so long as the game was patched. Is everyone who patched the game only to post in the tob board?

:P :)
