HEAVY SPOILER, complete 8 chambers solution

Post by Jodmos »

The most threads started recently are all about this subject.
So heres the walkthrough for it.

Im not the autor of this text, its part of a WT I found in the net.

Chamber of stone

The first chamber, the Chamber of Stone will greet you here and so will five levers, which you'll have to figure out if you plan on getting out of here. Your first step should be selecting a party member that can deal a lot of damage as well as take it, so a front line Fighter or Barbarian will easily get you through this part of your tests.
Before you go and start pulling on any of the levers, equip yourself with a weapon or two that best suits your character then begin. Here is the proper order in which to pull the levers and each time you pull one, you'll have to face and defeat a Stone Monk. The further you get in the sequence, the more Stone Monks you will have to face at once. The least is one, the most is four.

Pull lever one first.
Pull lever five second.
Pull lever three third.
Pull lever two fourth.
Pull lever four last.

Chamber of shadows

The Chamber of Shadows is once again, geared towards any member of your party that can take a lot of damage and deal it out too. Within this chamber are six arches and they'll either be the correct one, which will do nothing but create some magical effects or be the incorrect one. Stepping into an arch that is the incorrect one will produce a Shadow Monk that you will have to fight.
The correct order to get out of this chamber without having to battle any of the Shadow Monks is as follows. North-Eastern arch first, South-Eastern arch second, North-Western arch third and the South-Western arch to complete the chamber.

Chamber of Sorcery

The Chamber of Sorcery is not for the light of heart for electric bolts will surge through anyone who is not quick enough to gain the needed protection from the circles found on the chamber floor. It is here that two Crystalline Monks will arrive and attack those who find themselves here. Equip the one you sent in here and battle it out.
When the Crystalline Monks first appear, they will simply attack you but as time drags on, they will be lightning bolted back to the green circles in the chamber and that is when you're going to have to look out! The Crystalline Monks will have electrical charges to shoot at you and there are two things you can do to protect yourself from this. Send in a Priest, Ranger, Wizard or Sorcerer who can cast Protection from Lightning and battle it out with the Crystalline Monks.

Your other option is to watch the other circular platforms in the chamber for one will raise when the Crystalline Monks bolt back to attack. Stepping on one of these raised, circular platforms in time will give that particular character Protection from Lightning. If you miss out on it, prepare for another electrical charge.

Chamber of Clockwork

Tic-toc, tic-toc goes the clock in the Chamber of Clockwork. Once again, another chamber that will require you to kill all of the Clockwork Monks by avoiding the sharp, spinning blades you could very well run into. Try not to, will you!
Three Clockwork Monks will lumber towards you, slashing the air with their hands and kicking at your face but you can show them what you're made of by picking a weapon of your choice or taking them down with spells if you have a Priest, Ranger, Druid, Wizard or Sorcerer in the chamber.

Now as each Clockwork Monk begins to die, a countdown will start and their platform will flash with an electric charge. To avoid the final blow of a dying Clockwork Mage, rush to that particular platform and stand on it. Don't forget, avoid the spinning blades in the room for your character will walk right through them to get to any other point in the chamber.

Killing all three Clockwork Monks will end this chamber.

Chamber of Sand

The Chamber of Sand will introduce you to Sand Monks which will appear from the very sand you'll find yourself surrounded by. Within this chamber are also four switches and when you pull them, a roaring flame of fire will shoot forth from one wall to the next.
If you start running around the room in a clockwise fashion and pull these levers, the Sand Monks will start to get themselves blasted by the flames. Line them up as they chase you through the sand and pull the lever. Eventually, with enough patience and running around, you'll fry them back into the sand particles they were to begin with.

When the Sand Monks are dead, this chamber is complete.

Chamber of Silk

If you're afraid of spiders, it would be a good idea to send someone else into the Chamber of Silk because in here, you're going to be facing many, many spiders. Their numbers might seem infinate but don't worry, they'll eventually stop respawning.
Your task here is to simply kill all of the Poison Web Spiders and when you've done this, the chamber is complete.

Chamber of Battle

A tough and hard battle waits those who step into the Chamber of Battle for you will have to manipulate your enemies in battle in order to master this chamber.
This chamber is broken down into two parts. The first part of the chamber will require you to lead the Iron Monk towards the platform in this room and make sure they're standing on it when you start to attack them. You must kill the first Iron Monk and have him die on the platform. Doing this will allow you to pull the switch in the first part of the chamber to gain access to the second part of the chamber.

The second part of the chamber now has two platforms. You must once again, kill an Iron Monk on one platform and do the same for the second with the second platform. Once you have dropped the last Iron Monk on the last platform, you must dash back into the first part of the chamber and pull the switch.

Chamber of Immolation

Perhaps the most difficult of all chambers will be the Chamber of Immolation for the amount of damage one can receive here is enough to kill even the strongest Fighter or Barbarian.
If the Brass Monks are not enough for you, the random Flame Strikes in this chamber will be and they will cause anyone party member a lot of grief and frustration if you cannot avoid them quick enough. Watching the floor of this chamber will give you enough warning on where and when the next Flame Strike will hit as a circular ring will form on the chamber floor.

If you happen to be around or inside of one of these rings, it's about time you move out its space or else you're going to get burned. You must avoid the Flame Strikes as best as you can and also kill the Brass Monks here.

Danke, Jodmos!

This is one of the trickier areas, with lots of questions, so thanks, Jodmos, for the complete post.

Just a further note: I found that the easy (read: cheesy) way to win most of these chambers was to use my sorceress. Cast improved invisibility, and kill the nasties with any of the weapons you find in the chambers (my sorceress has a level of paladin, so she can use any of the ones there). Some variations may be needed. Sand monks, for example, need to be killed with fire.

The only chamber this did NOT work in was the battle chamber. Those monks can see invisible characters! I used my dwarven fighter for it.

Good luck, all.

One more thing on using improved invisibility: If you cast it asap in the chamber of immolation, there will be no flame strikes. This turns the most difficult chamber into the far easiest, just two monks that don't attack left.

question - do you get exp for defeating the stone or shadow monks? i.e. do you get exp for the kill, in additon to the exp you get for completing that chamber?

if so, would it be worth while to purposefully pull the levers in the stone room in the wrong order to kill more stone monks?

and likewise, would it be worth while to purposefully walk thru the incorrect archways to spawn more shadow monks?

I realize this could be a dangerous gamble, purposefully spawning more monks... but if your char can handle them easily, it seems like a viable way to get the party some more exp (if they indeed do give exp when killed...)

anyone know?

It would be far less time consuming to rest outside the monastery and kill some thousand yetis - and sell their skins. :D

I still don´t get why everyone had such a hard time with the 8 chambers... My druid took out every chamber without a single reload...

How many brass monks did you guys have to face in the last chamber? 'Cuz I only had to kill two... Piece of cake.

Two brass monks that didn't attack and no flames.

I have the feeling that improved invisibility is far too powerful in this game ...

What I like to know is are there any clue to the second chamber? The other seven chambers have clues to what is needed to be done - first, the stone tablets on the north-west wall; and for the others, you can figure it out by asking the guy who is in charge of the chambers. But I couldn't figure out the second chamber - ended up doing it by trial and error - are there any clues at all about finding the correct order? Or am I missing something?
