As far as my plans, I have been intending for some time for Golhyrr to spring a trap on the Dark Flames to avenge his brother and forward his own dreams of glory. The room T'L found has only a piece of the Abomination, a tentacle as it were, as bait. However, maybe they can escape the trap via the pool. I think that would make a good story line. Then the key that AC found could be the way into the real Abomination lair. Thoughts?

Oh... and, of course, the pool could lead to a Pub Med in Amn for a little R&R before the big battle. :D

I think that sounds great :)
Maybe we could dispatch the tentacle fairly quickly, then encounter the trap that has been woven.... perhaps after that we could go onto the real battle? I do like the idea of some R&R at Pub Med though :D But I'm slightly worried to discover just what might be on tap :D

I will be honest though, I am somewhat anxious to get out of the tunnels...... We have been down there since the early winter... and some sunshine and fresh air would be nice :)

@Scadye: LMAO!

@Chanak: I took the liberty of reserving a pool-side suite for you, good sir. ;)

@DW and AC: Too bad... I was just starting to warm up to the place. :D

Well, if we want a break from the tunnels, one way to do it is to spring the trap, retreat through the pool, end up in some alternate reality (i.e magic forest, other plane, etc.) -- some place where we meet someone who can explain how the pool works. We could come to understand that rather than being a portal, the pool is like a routing system of energetic tunnels. That way, we have an adventure outside for awhile, then be able to come back into the Abomination's lair. I'm sure we must have some loose ends to tie up, like following the trail of Georgi's abductors or finding a dude ranch for BS. :D

I have gotten a few questions and comments about my riffle..

FYI: I have 2 boxes of ammo in the saddle bags. We could play that in several directions.. ie:

1.that is it, when it's gone, it's gone.

2.find an alchemist who can unlock the secrets of making gun powder.

3.enchant the weapon

I prefer not to be a magic user, at least at this juncture. I plan to play my character as someone who is here by mistake, and very suspicious of what she does not understand. (Kinda like me IRL :D )

I think this would give her certain immunities to magic as well..
blind to prophesy and sensient magic, spell resistance, etc. Spells could only affect her indirectly. etc. I am working on my next post, but would like input in these areas if you guys have any ideas..

I vote for the weapon to be already enchanted coming through the Weave and to have unlimited enchanted bullets. :D

Well that would be one way in which to expedite our progress through the tunnels and lair... :D

Seriously, I think that this or having somebody discover gunpowder makes logical sense. Since Scayde is travelling back in time, in a way, it seems unrealistic for her to be using something like a sword or mace. I could see a possibility for her character to develop magic later on, but certainly not immediately. :)

Regarding the pool as a portal to forest, plain or pub ( I especially like this option :D )...I am actually pretty flexible. I think as long as we can keep the story coherant (and progressing towards the abomination battle..which I would like to get over with before Christmas ;) .....Santa might have trouble finding us down there :D ) that might provide a nice break, prior to the big battle.

@ Chanak :

I feel a little guilty for only writing a little bit, but I wanted you to know I read your Ideas and Wow.. They are cool.. I can't wait to see what everyone else thinks...Thanks for going to so much trouble.

I don't know hardly anything at all about the D&D rules, but what you described is what i basically had in mind for my character nay way, I just never could have explained it as elegantly as you did.. Wow, with writers like you guys, I may be in over my head.*G* But I'll try to keep up :D

Thanks again Chanak

@Scayde: Sorry, it went "poof." I didn't save it anywhere else. :(

EDIT - Here is an abridged version, drawn out of my own patented and rather unreliable memory banks. ;)

Dimensional travel in an RPG is always an interesting subject. Here's some of my thoughts concerning Scayde and her wondrous rifle.

Scayde is from a universe (read: Prime Material Plane) where physical and mechanical laws reign supreme. The magical weave is so anemic as to be virtually non-existent: in her world, creatures respond directly to their enviroment according to these forces and laws without the influence of magical energy.

The Primes exist much like frequencies in a bandwith that has no beginning nor end, stretching on and on into virtual infinity. Each individual frequency on this infinite bandwith represents an individual bandwith that in turn is infinite unto itself, knowing no beginning nor end.

Frequencies (universes) that are closer to one another in this procession of Primes are by nature very similar to one another. Their laws closely resemble each other, as do the composition of their worlds. The closer two universes are on this vast bandwith, the more similar they are to one another. However, the farther removed two universes are on the bandwith from one another, the more they differ.

Things work differently in each individual universe - each is a subtle variation of the other. It is reasonable to assume that two adjoining universes can safely interchange matter with no effects at all. This safety buffer decreases, though, the farther the Primes are apart on the bandwith.

Scayde's universe is far removed from the Prime Material Plane which houses Toril and the Forgotten Realms. The Magical Weave is powerful in Toril's universe, melding with the physical forces and laws to create the creatures we have all come to fear and despise. Spells can alter the very fabric of space and time in Toril's dimension...whereas in Scayde's home plane, magic is feeble and weak, and often is not present at all.

Based upon this line of thinking, it is easy to see how Scayde's character would possess a high degree of immunity to spells. Both her mind, and the peculiar energy emantions of her body, would intrinsically resist magic, whether it be harmful, or beneficial. An example:

A fireball roars into the midst of the party, sending everyone scattering to the four winds. Scayde is busy trying some pretty new boots on that Yshania gave to her just a few moments ago, and wonders what all the fuss and bother is about. She's just in time to witness a pretty fireshow, and she has a front row seat as the ball of flame explodes. AC buries her head in her hands, mourning the loss of her strange new friend.

Scayde, however, wonders why she isn't the least bit toasty. Oddly enough, though, Yshania's nice boots are now nothing but ashes on her feet. Yet, her jeans, shirt, and vest are just fine. Amazing, she thinks. How about them apples?

Digging her old boots out of her saddlebag and slinging her rifle on her shoulder, she walks over to AC and asks her if she's doing ok. :D

Both Scayde and the items she brought with her into Faerun are little pieces of home away from home, so to speak. Originating in another universe, they emanate strange energies which intrinsically resist the Magical Weave. For a time, everything works just as it should: she can fire all of the bullets she wants, and stick her tongue out at the Drow wizards. :D Eventually, however, the energies of Toril's magical weave will begin to have an effect on Scayde and her mementos from that strange world called Earth, effectively conforming her and her items to a normal state - normal, at least, for Toril.

It stands to reason that things work a little differently on Toril than they do on Earth. Gunpowder that goes "BOOM" on her daddy's ranch in Texas would more than likely go "pouf" in the dark tunnels that the DF finds themselves in. This is likely due to the fact that effective gunpowder has a different composition on Toril, due to the presence of the Magical Weave. For a time, Scayde's gunpowder resists the laws and energies of Toril, and continues to work fine. There comes a time, however, when it begins to fail, eventually reaching a point where it does not work at all. :(

Thus, there will come a time when Scayde will be able to cast spells, and feel a great deal of discomfort when those magic missiles hit. In fact, they'll hurt quite badly. At that time, she better run for cover when the fireball comes.

There you go, Scayde. Does that cover it? :)

@T' - "not-inkansys" ROFLMAO! :D It is great to have you back *hug* ;)

Re the pool, I like that it could be a portal, maybe Eldath spoke to DW and Gwally cryptically about offering a reprieve before the big showdown? This will be good, it will be nice to have the DF meet each other in a pocket of peacetime ;) even if it is a timewarp...

@Chanak - great ideas! Only, Ysh' boots should have some sort of fire resistance due to her elemental changes - otherwise soot would be all she is wearing right now  :D

And how would Scayde know about "them apples" LMAO! :D DF history, funny how "them apples" and the "Syrup of D'sney" appear again the same day, those were fun days in the tunnel behind Gwally's room!

So Scayde is possibly time travelling? She thinks she has stumbled upon a film set? LOL! I like this :D Perhaps later, when her spell immunity runs out, Vivien can help craft her some armour - as she did for Gwally? Maybe T'lainya can enchant her some weapons too. My thoughts are that she doesn't need to become a magic user, an out and out warrior would be just as cool ;)

How about this "alternate reality" is a Texas ranch 2002? :D That would be a scream having the DF experience 21st Century technology :D *pictures BS running screaming from a tv set, or Gwally and Ysh savagely smashing up chainsaws and other means of forest destruction* Maybe Scayde could help them here? ;)

@ Chanak, good ideas, there is a Faerunian ecuivalent of gunpowder, although it's illegal and magic based.."smokepowder" It's also extremely volatile and unstable..similar to early gunpowder :D The other ideas are very well thought out and similar to what I was thinking :D

I didn't think druids were overly concerned about modesty. ;)
Hmmm...maybe the boots you gave Scayde in the example were the ones you used to wear back when you did earth elemental changes. You know, mud resistance and all that. Mother's Favorite Footwear: resistance to tracking mud +5 :D

@T'lainya: I had thought the blunderbuss had made an appearance in the Forgotten Realms...I recall seeing it somewhere. I'm sure the deity Gond knows all about it. He would doubtlessly be *very* interested in Scayde's bullets. Hmmm...perhaps we can introduce an annoying little Priest of Gond to the story. He would hum merrily as he walked behind Scayde, sweeping up the spent cartridges...and offering to buy her cotton/polyester blend shirt for 1,000,000,000 gold pieces. :D

Btw, I discovered this the other day: polyester is highly resistant to battery acid. Perhaps Scayde can have a bolt of 100% polyester fabric (with a cute little duckie print, maybe) tucked away in her saddlebags - just in case she ever needed it, you know. :p She could sew us all some really hip Shirts of Acid Resistance. :D We could start a line of acid resistant casualwear as a way to kick off the DF line of clothing.
