It's a year or so since I played Icewind dale last time. You either have to kill his minions first, or not kill his minions at all. I can't remember which. :)

I thought you said you that haven't tried Icewind Dale. You know, it's not always it's better to kill the minions, if the minions have like 1000 hp, the boss can just stand there slashing at your characters. IIRC, it's two iron golems. right?

Its all in IWD tactics 101. :)

You can't disarm the traps - avoid them, keep to the outer circle. Magic has little impact on Belhifet, and the weak party members attract the golems so use them as a decoy. Have lots of fire protection, haste/speed and strength items for your fighters. Hack away at Belhifet and be careful not to run across the circle when he teleports - keep to the outside.

I basically ignored the minions (but made sure they were attacking my tanks)...and drunk oils of speed/casted haste, using clerics to heal, and using potions of healing if I couldn't reach there in time.

I just hacked away at him, and ignored the two Iron Golems. Granted, when I finally killed Behilfet, I only had one PC left, and he has only 9 hp left... ;)

Ignore the minions, just hack away with you tanks, use your mages (with boots of speed) to evade and occupy the golems. And stay away from the traps.

Arrows of piercing!

I've you were smart enought to save them, here's the place to use them. Ignore the iron golems. If they attack a character (mostly likely your wizard) have him run around around in circles. All the others should be targeting the Boss with arrows of piercing.
