Well, I had done everything I think I should have but when I took the ID'd bottle back to her room and tried to talk to her, nothing seemed to be happening.
However, when I went back to try again before heading off in the airship, her room was empty so maybe it did work after all. I should have thought to talk to the innkeeper to see what he had to say. I'll check the journal.

Hello everyone....
hhmmm......I am probaly too late with this one...but i hope that it can help somehow.......
but so far it is all correct:
meet her at night, have the bottle id'ed, talk to different people...
but what you should do is to talk to the innkeeper about her husband...
then he will send send you to the tavern owner at the docks.....
then he gives you a part of the dead husbands ship.....
then you will need to give the part to her so she can rest.....or something like that........
then she will give you her tear.......
and if you want a tiny little extra bit of experience then go talk to the myrkul priest after you have the bottle id'ed.....the priest with two human body and a goblin body in his room(the guy who cheated the innkeeper).....
Then you have some options.......go talk to elytharra(lord ulbrecs wife)........you can exchange the bottle for some money.......or a magical small blade......or keep the bottle.......
i made a savegame and took the knife..........but i do not know......maybe i could get something different later on if i kept the bottle........?!?!?
anyway i hope that helped..........

Tyralyon> Thanks for the info; it will be useful when I play thru again. I'm now at Dragon's Eye and get the feeling that Targos is far behind me.
