Post by free_fall »

How do I get into the s.e. fresh water sink room - the one behind the locked door? I'm going nuts on this! TIA

Skip to next paragraph for the direct answer if you've already gone through this part.

My appologies if you've already done this part, but you have to use the modified Histachi brew on one of your characters to turn them into a Histachi and then you can get past Ssseth's eye into the room with a switch for the drawbridge. Then you can get into the room with all the Efreeti's. After you kill them, talk to the boy with a Paladin if you have one and you can reveal his disguise, if not, I believe I read somewhere that if you sleep and talk to the boy again, he'll reveal his true nature. Defeat his true form and before he dies, he'll slither away into the wall.

Move your cursor around the south-east portion of the southernmost chamber on the level and you will find some stairs. Enter and you'll be in the room with the final sink and some sweet booty.

OK, that's where I'm having a problem.

I killed the Efretes, rested & talked to the boy. He asks if I found his mom, "her name is Izbelah" and my responses IIRC are 1- No, I haven't yet. 2- You're mom is the High Sorceress? I'll return after I've found her. Farewell for now. 3- You're safe now. Farewell. That's it - no transformation or fight is triggered.

I'm wondering if it's because I didn't go back and ask the prisoner guy for spare potion, but instead went back to the lab and just made more? I've gone back to that point and gotten the spare potion instead so maybe that will fix it.

Also, I noticed that the first couple of times I tried to fight the Efretes, I was interrupted by the dialog with the boy, but the last attempt, in which I defeated them, I had started well back on the bridge and defeated them before any dialog with the kid took place. I can try reloading from before the fight to see if that helps.

When resting and talking to the boy, did you try the option: "Your mom is the high sorceress"?

"High Sorceress Izbelah is your mother? We'll return when we've found her. Farewell for now."

That's the only dialog choice refering to Izbelah I get. I take it and the kid says 'good-bye, monster crushers'. I walk away, come back, click on him again and he starts in again "Have you found my momma? She's called Izbelah." Rinse and repeat. Nothing happens. No fight.

Went to bed after my last post, just woke up and will now try the two options I mentioned in my last post.

Turns out you need a Paladin (who can detect evil) to talk to the kid to trigger the change; there was mention of a workaround for this but couldn't locate it.

Searched the item lists for a detect evil or know alignment scroll without success.

Ended up having to use Dalekeeper2 to change one PC from lawful neutral to lawful good so he could take one lvl of Paladin - thank God he had just amassed enough points during the Effrete fight to level up or I would have been really screwed.

What I find most irritating about this is that I'm using one of the pre-made parties. It doesn't make sense that they'd make, not completion of some little side-quest but, advancement in the game itself dependent upon one type of character and then not include that character in the pre-made parties, so there must be an alternate solution to this problem.

Well, Thorasskus is dead, the door is open and I'm ready to move on.

No need of a Pally here.

It can be done with one, but not necessarily. Went through this without one, and I think detect evil won´t help.

Try to talk with every single party member to that boy.
Perhaps it needs an Intimidate check or something...

Oh actually you only need to rest. After that you should get a new dialogue option :)

No, resting didn't give any new dialog options, at least, it didn't for me - I tried it, over and over.

I did try having everyone in my party talk to him, too.

However, someone at the BIS forum was able to give me the alternate solution. I will post it if anyone's interested.
