21 :: 3.9
22 :: 4.15
23 :: 4.4
24 :: 4.7
25 :: 5
26 :: 5.5
27 :: 6
28 :: 6.5

Drezden

Thank you! That was very kind! Would you know whether the high level abilities gained at level 14 are automatically awarded if your PC is higher than level 14 when starting ToB?

Thanks again :D

I read somwhere that if your game as been hacked that some stuff may not work correctly. I think I read it in an interview with somebody from the Black Isle Studios. But I may be wrong.

What do you mean hacked?

I have removed exp but it will not affect my current game. My Avenger (and Master Druid!) was level 14 in Chapter 2, I am ready to go into Chapter 5 and awating level up.

Thx :D

Oh why did I do that?!? :( :mad:

How do I add back in the exp cap? LMAO!!!

Clever though! But I removed the exp cap when I imported a character that had already completed BGI, TOSC, BGII then changed my character and started anew BGII. Help! :eek:

Erm - thanks for the warning Red!

Use ShadowKeeper to hack your character's level back to whatever you prefer, or just give those "upgraded" enemies the (level 40) boot.

The whole idea of XP capping stinks. If Bio wants to balance the game, they should hand out less XP. It's not as if your characters can reach the Cap by sitting on their @$$ all day...

Thanks Xyx but I don't use shadowkeeper - and if I did I would not know the right level to cap.

I will just be ready for a bit of hack and slash IWD style! Hehe! (Aaaarrrrggghhhh!!!!) :eek:

Yshania: Just remove the XPCAP.2DA file from the Override directory to add the cap back in - removing the cap remover. The cap in SoA is 2950000, which mean your Druid will be level 14, if you want the saving throws and all of that, I can send them to you.

Sabre - My Avenger is already level 14 on 2,023,634 so he won't level up again in this game will he if I take out the exp cap thingy? (next level 3,000,000) and I have only just entered Sahuagin City, with still a few big Chapter 2 quests and the open stronghold quests to do.

His saving throws are currently

Par/Poi/Death: 2 (-3)
Rod/Staff/Wand: 6 (-3)
Petrify/Polymorph: 5 (-3)
Breath: 8 (-3)
Spells: 7 (-3)

I don't know how these equate to the information you have. To be completely honest (duh) I have never really read the manuals so I don't fully understand what they mean (!)

Anyhow, thanks very much for the advice, at least I know the file to remove if I bottle the difficulty of ToB!!

If I were to remove the exp cap when my PC passes level 14 will his exp level be reset? ie will he drop back to level 14? (he levels to 15 at 3,000,000 which is outside the exp cap of BGII)

Thanks again! ;) :D

If your character is below the cap, removing the remover will allow he to earn up to the cap, so he won't level up.

If his experience is already over the cap then it will drop back to what the cap is (2950000). But if he level up after passing the cap, the level will remain, so your Druid's level will be 15, but xp will only be 2950000, so you have to manually edit the character, removing anything at was earned at level 15, and setting the level back to 14. (If you want, send me the save game for this and I'll reset the character for you, or should I say try to reset the character. :) )

The info I have is from reading the data file of the game, using Infinity Explorer, not the manual.

Sabre - that is really kind of you to offer! :D

He is not at the level cap yet so I intend to save the game twice before he levels up.

That way I can explore ToB with the exp cap removed - to start with - or come back to the idle save game and pick it up again with the exp cap put back in place. Maybe I will ask you the favour then? ;)

He still needs just short of 1,000,000 to level up so I have a little breathing space! hehe!

What do you think though, if I have the exp cap removed but my PC is of average exp entering ToB (ie lvl 14) will ToB still recognise the fact we have removed exp cap or will their spawn rates (etc) be merely influenced by average party level ?

Thanks again for the offer Sabre! :D ;)

You're welcome. Not sure about the way they're going to check whether you have the cap remover or not. But I think that it will be by looking at the experience your character have, so having the cap remover shouldn't effect the monster spawning rates and other things.

Yshania, I'm not sure if this relevant to your situation, but TOB will remove the cap in SOA once it is installed. So if you can wait to go over the cap until you get TOB, then there is no need to install any extra software, nor any need to edit characters later.

Thx Dresden. Though I have quite a bit to do - I don't think it will earn me the 1,000,000 I need to lvl up to 15 which would then take me over BGII exp cap so I should be ok I think. :)
