Mages+the mines

Post by Obsidian »

Where can I find some good ones? Im lvl 3 and walking around doing all the side quests, tackled the mines, but couldnt find a way deeper then the third level.

There is a mage next to the boss that you can join with. Also in the gnoll strong hold and in teh nashkel mines.

Or consider dualing Imoen to an Illussionist. Immy and Edwin (you can find him on the bridge in the town of Nashkel) are the best mages in the game IMHO.

don't dual her. She is the best thief in the game due to the fact that you can choose all of her stats from the beginning

I see your point but, unlike BG2, BG1 has no shortage of thieves. Most of them are good enough. I've had Safana, Alora and Coran in my party and they never fell short.
Besides, dualing Imoen seems the right thing to do, considering that she's dualclassed in BG2. Storyconsistency and all that.

I dualed Imoen as soon as possible. Since I took another thief in my party I didn't need Immie's thieving skills and I wanted her to be as powerful a mage as possible.

Spoilerish:

You can find Safana at the area which has the lighthouse on it. Be careful, the place is crawling with Sirines.
If you don't like Safana (although I do) you can always switch for Coran (f/t) when you reach Cloakwood, or Alora in Baldur's Gate. In Baldur's Gate you can also find Skie, Eldoth's partner, but she's really not that good.

Spoiler to gain soem fast levels plz high light

To get a lot of xp fast go to the area east of the church in beregost and have fun with korax ;)

Your best bet would be safana as she is the closest to you, watch out for those sirienes though, They' charm you at the plink of an eye. If this is a bad thing (concidering their nice bods) I leave up to your own oppinion :D

Korax will take the lumps from the basiliks for you, at least for a time. Basiliks give you 1000 xp (I think) and greater basiliks even more (1400 or 1500).

I see. Thought there might have been a cheat you could pull with him or something! I always get stuck into them myself, nothing like some hands on action!

It depends on if you have TotSC installed or not. If not you get 6k for each greater bass.

I think you get 6k even if you have TOTSC installed, at least you do for one of them. The rest are worth less.

which one is that? I never met that bass?!? I know for a fact that all in the area mentioned above give 1400xp each

EDIT: I just realised that I might be wrong. It might be the lesser that give 1400 and teh greater give 3000 or so.... not sure anymore

I'll be in that area soon in my game (at Ulcaster at the mo). I'll find out when I get there. I'm sure one of the basilisks is worth more and he isn't any harder then the others!

One greater bassilisk is worth 7000 XP - it's the one next to the gnome mage. The rest of the greater bassilisks are worth 4000 XP each, and the lesser 1400 XP - this is with Tales installed, if it makes a difference, that is.
