So, does anyone intend on buying starcraft:ghost for x-box? I do not own a console and do not intend on buying one, but I would love to hear some opinions for SC:G.
Vicsun, I certainly agree with your assertion that you are an unpleasant person. ~Chanak

Jedi Knight 2 does all that, although you control you saber swings with combinations of the attack button and directions. But it still works perfectly. Also, Obi-wan was supposed to be on PC, but noooooo...they canned it, and announced it was going to be only for X-box.

I agree though, any game that lets you throw you enemies around is cool. :D

Best controller.
Best graphics.
Best price (relative to release)
Totally in agreement with you on this one. Saw it for £100 today...the controller is the best I've ever used, and I've already gushed enough about the games, though there could be more...

Heh....I'm still fleshing out Ocarina of Time and Goldeneye....I lack skill at Goldeneye, but I still love it :D Speaking of new consoles, I heard Rogue Leader for Gamecube was good....was it?

Just a few comments.

For those who think the xbox controller is to big and clunky, they made an xbox-s (small) controller for those with smaller hands. they also rearranged the alignment of the black and white buttons to make them a little more accessible for those with smaller fingers. For me personally, the original xbox controller was an instant perfect fit. Never has a console controller been better designed.

I play FPS on console and on PC and I haven't missed many of them over the years. Halo is without a doubt the best one I've played. Both the single player, cooperative play, and multiplayer options available all excel. Perhaps the right resources helps the experience. Scenario: 16 people, 4 xbox's, 4 wall projectors. LAN them together and each player has a 27 inch screen to play. Eight people upstairs, eight people downstairs, two teams, capture the flag with all vehicles. It's the ultimate in teamwork and carnage. For the PC, I think Ghost Recon is the best effort I've played.

Basically though, I find FPS to be enjoyable on any platform. RPG's and RTS's I would only play on PC. Sports games I usually prefer a console although I've never purchased a joystick for my PC.

blood gulch and sidewinder. I especially like sidewinder because it's fun to run around off the map offing unsuspecting players. We always allow this cheat because there are several people who know how to do it and players off map can shoot other players off map. Then there's the warthog cheat on sidewinder as well. The cheats/bugs add extra strategy elements so it's worth including them in eight on eight. Fewer than that and we act on our honor to not pull cheap stunts like that.

Oh yeah, the scenario with the wall projectors i talked about earlier usually includes a lot of good beer.

@Kam, if you can get six players, IMHO the best map is "Up the ramps, down the tubes" That map offers the best in teamwork and actually sold me on the assault rifle being an excellent weapon.

to stay on subject, I haven't bought obi-wan yet. :p

Is Sidewinder the w/vehicles ice map? And what's this warthog cheat? Sounds interesting... :D

All the best console battles usually do...I remember well marathon NBA Live '99 games, arcade mode with fouls on, and really bad hangovers/blisters the next day... :D

Hmm...I'm not a huge fan of that map, my current fave is actually "Boarding Action", I love the hunting of other players and not knowing what level that red dot next to you on your radar is on :D

Yeah, I like boarding action also although I find it works best with ten or more people. Otherwise, you can a while without finding any targets especially in team games.

Anyway the warthog cheat on sidewinder (yes, the icy board).

A friend an I stumbled across this messing around. It involves the indoor area of sidewinder where there is a impassable gate with an overshield and camoflauge on the ground.

Have one guy go for the flag. when you get it, head for this spot. Have you teammate park a warthog on the other side of the gate. As you approach the gate, you'll get the 'Press "x" to enter driver seat of warthog. Go ahead and press 'x' and you'll pass through the gate into the driver seat of the warthog. Then haul back driving the warthog towards your base (yes, you can drive the warthog while carrying the flag.

The thing is, when we decide to use this bug (again, it is a morally agreeable thing, you can't turn it on or off, it just exists) as soon as everyone hears "Red Team/Blue Team has the flag", every player makes a beeline for this area because it is the quickest and safest way back to base. Crazy battles erupt down there. It's such a tight area, a lot of deaths occur. I believe during one game some 12 of the 16 players got nuked down there within a few seconds. All it takes is a few people dying and dropping their grenades. One grenade explosion can set off several of them on the ground. It's pretty hilarious. Have you seen the halo video that's online where someone took the time to experiment with grenades en masse. It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen and it's all legit stuff, nothing hacked because I duped everything in the video.

also, we've customized all of our multiplayer games to run without the motion sensors.

Heh, that's a pretty cool bug/cheat...I suppose it makes for some very interesting play...and I would love to see that video. Have you got a link?

Hmm...I don't think I could get used to having the motion sensors off very easily...for me, it replaces the quick 360-degree turn I can do with the mouse in Q3 to look behind me...in Halo doing that is too time-consuming, so I use the radar.

If you jump and turn around in halo, it is almost twice as fast as doing it while grounded. I'll PM you a link. You'll need quick time 4.0 or later (is there a later?)
