Kill Valygar?

Post by gymscat »

I accepted this quest but I have recently heard great things about Valygar. What is the outcome of keeping him in my party?
Currently my char. is a thief+ Minsc, Jaheira,Imoen,Nalia, and Anomen. I am starting Chap. 6. Should I hang on to Valgar and forget turning him in?
Thx
G.

I wouldnt recommend killing valygar for the coweled wizards. you need valygar to do the planar sphere quest, he is the key you need to get in. You get the gauntlets of ogre power in there (part of crom faeyr) and i belive the wave shaft (part of the halbred wave). These are some kick ass weapons, so you will want to do the quest. And the quest offers some nice experience points.

And valgyar in my opinion is one of the better NPCs, because of his back-stabbing ability, arm him with the celestial fury, and maybe the daystar or equalizer and you have quite a force on your team. celestial fury dishes out like 20 damage plus stunning.

plus when you are in the sphere, you get to kill that coweled wizard anyways

For what it's worth, I suggest keeping Valygar only long enough to enter the Planar Sphere. (He's the key that gains you entry.) Once inside, you can leave again, dismiss him, and get back whomever you've let go previously.

He's not bad, but I don't find him as useful as Minsc in a neutral/good party, and he's useless in a netural/evil one.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

and by the way, you get the wave shaft in the Astral Prison, not the Planar Sphere.

just kill him, he's useless, but don't take his body to the cowled wizards, take the body to the planar sphere and it'll open up for you.

I say just kill the fool and use his body to get into the sphere. That's how I did it anyway, worked like a charm and was fun to boot. :D
