One potential method- however, it requires that you just kinda wander into the building, without getting the quest to go there from the genies. Enter the building and the rak won't go auto-hostile. Set a number of skull traps somewhere behind the rak. Stand in front of the rak. Smack her with the Ring of the Ram (you DID go lawful neutral, didn't you?). Rak goes flying back, then dies in small charred lumps.

i would enter the room, and let the rakasha go hostile, then usually right away she summons like 3 mages or such, and they usually cast cloud kill or a spell similar to cloud kill right away, i would leave the room immediatley, and the poison gas should really wear down the rakasha and the mages, by the time you re-enter the room, they should be badly injured, near death, or dead

Nope, Rakashas are Immune to the effects of Cloudkill and all magic    , the only way I can harm them is with physical attacks (Minute Meteors), even when I cast, Draw Holy Might, Ghost Armor, and Mirror Image, I get beat? They are tough SOBs!

I'm not sure I she has the Cloak of Archmagi on her? But you can kill them best with physical attacks since magical have little or no effect.. Like magic missle, skull trap and of course a weapon. I like summoning skeletons for her friends then leave the cabin. Return and repeat.

No, she doesn't have the cloak, you get it from the Smithy in trademeet, which can't sell you items until you solve the problem, I don't have Animate Dead, so skeletons are out, and when I summon Monsters, they are smoked by CloudKill! so frustrating!

your best bet is definitely to attack before it goes hostile and have your summons ready to whip up on her. either skeleton warriors or mordenkain's sword.

Killing Ihtafeer:

Enter her cottage before getting the quest. Summon some friends, surround her, and initiate dialog. When the dialogue ends, chop her to pieces. You may have to step outside to let the cloudkill wear off.

There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

The rakasha is immune to spell levels 1-7 and has ac -8 I believe. I don't think skull trap will harm her, atleast it shouldn't.
You need a strong summon if you are a solo sorceror.

If you kill the djinnis, you can always come back later when you're more powerful and defeat the rakshasa. You solve the quest and can come back to pick off those foul creatures at your leisure. Strangely enough, they aren't goin' anywhere! :)

Why don't you download the bonusmerchants then. It is a small file and you can probably find it on this site.

Here is my favorite rakshasa-killing method. Twice I've tried this, and both times I took them out with no casualties to my party. Somewhere along the way I acquired a Summon Efreet scroll. Instead of memorizing it I just quick-slotted it and summoned an efreet on the upper level of the room, where the two "other" rakshasa appear. This kept them occupied while we pounded away on Ihtafeer downstairs. My clerics had lots of Zone of Sweet Air spells ready and they will really save you. Without the help of her two partners she went down pretty quick. Then we turned our attention to the two upstairs, and since they'd already been whacked by our efreet, they were ready to fall. The first time through, only one rakshasa was caught by our efreet; the second time, they both took him on. When that happened our efreet turned on us. I guess he didn't appreciate being ganged-up on...but we took him down.

I'm having a spot of bother with Ihtafeer, trouble is, I can't find the git! I've been all round the druid grove, in and out of the cottage, cast all sorts of spells to flush them out and nothing! As far as I can gather from searching the net Ihtafeer is in the cottage disguised as an old woman selling potions, but I can find no one in the druids grove area like this. Is there something I have to do to get her to appear or might this be a bug? I have spoke to the Dijnni and others in Trademeet so its a bit annoying.

Ihtafeer it not in the grove per se. There is a ruined building there (i don't know why people call it a cottage, it's got two towers!) that you can enter via a stone ledge. The rakshasa is inside it, so it's a new area, as it were.
