Djinn in Trademeet, something wierd...

Post by Krimmy »

I took killed the Djinn outside the tent, I then go inside and the other 2 have gone red, I was meaning to draw them outside for an ambush but decided to wait for them to move on me. Instead both fire off Turn to Stone, and I'm gone.

I reload and cast improved invisibility and go inside again, same situation only this time I attack to become partially invisible, they're then are able to target me and cast Turn to Stone without dispelling the invisibility. I thought What the Hell!???

Is this suppose to be allowed? I can't target invisible creatures, anyone know why this is?

Certain creatures are immune to invisibility. Try protection from petrification. ;)

Oh so they see invisible? I know like the vampiric wraiths see invisible but I didn't think you could target(spell) a creature that was invisible....at least WE can't.

How convienent...

Cast true sight or invisibility purge and you can. Immunity to invisibility isn't much more than a permanent true sight.

Btw, the original AD&D rules state that you become immune to illusion spells with high intelligence - one spell level per point of intelligence beyond 18 - but this isn't implemented in the game, nor are the high wisdom immunities.

That's what's so wierd, they didn't dispel my invisibilty and they were still able to target me with the spell. What I thought would happen because I was partially invisible(using improved invisibilty) they would move to melee because they couldn't target me with the spell. I don't think they should've been able to since we can't.

IMO

Dragons, Liches and Djinn have an innate ability to see invisible things. It isn't a matter of dispelling, you just aren't invisible as far as they are concerned.

There are lots of creatures that can do things that humanoids can't. Trolls and Wolfweres regenerate, Undead are immune to charm, Golems require magic weapons to hit, etc. It isn't a matter of fairness, you just need to learn the capacities of the various creatures.
Resistance to Tyrants is Service to God.

I don't think that's right, Liches and dragons still cast true site to reveal you, I can't remember another creature in the game that could target me with a spell while using improved invisibility without dispelling it first. And I'm not talking about area of affect spells like horrid wilting or something like that.

The other effects your listed imunities and such can be attained through potions or items. I realize they're abilities we can't get legally through the game such as the Dragon's Wing flap or the Demi liches soul suck thing(which is cleaverly disguised as Imprisonment)

try mislead and spell immunity...

if they still can stone you, then they have a scripted petrify spell in script, if not, then most likely they dispelled the immunity before petrify....

i also noted if you make a char immune to spells disabled, you can self target spells like buffs even when invisible..i have not tested this extensively, but it has happened...
They call me Darth...

Interesting...the petrify is definetly scripted as it's the first thing they fire, getting past them isn't difficult, I sent a sacrificial lamb..i.e spawned a Djinn with the device pulled off the one I killed outside. Once they turned him into stone they went to melee right after.

I suppose it's possible they dispelled my invisibilty but I now that I think about it, they don't see invisible because as I entered the tent with improved invisibilty they didn't make a move on me until I attacked one of them I didn't see any dispel, can you test it yourself and see what you make of it? or have you already?

Thanks
