What is up with Isair's accent? I mean, it's really quite interesting, in a way, and very effective but it *is* very bizarre.
What I find especially strange is that Madae sounds, well, downright normal. Now, beings twins raised in the same environment, you'd think that their voices and speech patterns would have a nominal similarity. Instead, it sounds like they were separated at birth and raised in totally different ethnic cultures.
A bit of logical consistency sacrificed for dramatic effect.

... and when I look at you I think, if I were a psychopath and we were standing on an extremely high cliff above a pounding surf that would drown out your scream ... well ... you know ...

Isair is voiced by Peter Stormare, a Swedish actor who you may recognize from Jurassic Park 2, Minority Report, the Big Lebowski, and Fargo. Since Icewind Dale 2 takes place in a pseudo-Nordic environment, the designers thought his accent would be appropriate. But J.E. Sawyer does admit, "His accent is thicker than I thought. Wow, it's thick."
I just find it strange that Isair has a Swedish accent and Madae doesn't.

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
Aah, sso ut'ss Ssvedish, uss ut?
Now that you say it, I can see it, where I just couldn't put my finger on it before. I thought they were going for middle/eastern European, yet it didn't sound at all Slavic.
Thanks for clearing that up.
BTW, thanks for the link in your sig - I haven't laughed so hard in ages.
