starting a new group (or: any suggestions?)

Post by LeTz »

i would like to start a new game with a new group and as always, the possibilities are limitless.
since so far i played only with a good team, i want the new
one to be bad. the thing is that i don't have enough
bad chars. theres jan (which is neutral), viconia, edwin, korgan, myself, and...? (don't say Jahira)
other thing is that i don't have enough spellcasters and i don't want my char to be one (viconia is a monk, right?)
anyhow, i really don't know what to do.
any suggestions?

Minsc is always a blast

but, Korgan is quite cool too. I ToB, if you have it, a new option will present itself ;)

Yeah, you're probably right. Go for Korgan then. A monk is, in high levels, the only tank you need actually. Well, infact you could solo the monk pretty easy

Why dont you go with 5 of em, more exp for you, not like you have to have 6 characters in your party ;)
It's a miracle what a good fighter can do

Leave the 6th slot available for NPC quests. You can pick up an NPC, do the quest, then drop them. If you aren't interested in their quests, then stay with 5 and wait for ToB. Personally I never go with more than 4 in my main party, with the occassional 5th being an NPC for their quest.

How about Haer 'Dhalis then??
He is also a spellcaster (not so great as edwin, but its ok)

And hes (IMO) quite cool.
His skills improve very well further on in the game, and at the middle/end of SoA he became one of my best NPC's.

His High Level Abilities also saved my a couple of times......his UAI and Spiketraps are great!!

Just a suggestion.......since he also fits very well in an Evil group.
"Sometimes Dreams are wiser than waking"

"One day I will leave this world and Dream myself to Reality"

"Dream your life, live that Dream"

"I have a Dream"........Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children.

Yes. You can finish the game with any number of players. You can even play solo for a challenge.

It aint easy to solo a monk through ToB.
I agree on bringing Haer'dalis. He will help you out alot later on. Infact with a bard in your team ToB becomes very easy.
I recommend
You-Monk
Viconia
Edwin
Jan
Korgan
Haerdalis
For more of a challange swap Korgan for Cernd.

If you take them on in melee by yourself as a cleric it might be difficult. With a couple of aerial servants by your side it will be a lot easier.
To me the most difficult soloclass is the warrior because you basically only have one tactic and that is to fight. If the enemies are stronger than you then you are in trouble.
A mage is the easiest because you can summon stuff and clone yourself. One mage can be as strong as you like and you never run out of spells at the higher levels.
For absolute power be a wild mage.
Coolest soloclass IMHO is the halfling swashbuckler. It is nice to see your tiny thief turn into an unhittable killing machine.

i never thought of it.
thought that the game was planned for six players.
but that explains one thing... in my last game i played
a sorcerer and i thought that in the end i will make use of those
high level spells. well, i didn't. there was no need because level 5-6 spells + 3 fighters well equipped were enough.
i guess when u play solo with a sorcerer (for example) u make
more use of the spells.

Power playing with 6 player has become to easy when you know alot about the game. Players therefore finish the game with less then 6 players. It is generally a good idea to work your way down from 6 to 1 in steps. However IMHO it is a lot more difficult to play with 2 players then soloing. You have to think about two peopes helth and u r still wunerable as a solo char. Damn hard in teh long run. Bosses might be easy but it requires more loading then a solo. When u have 2 player spells as sunfire becomes useless :(

i agree with one point, when playing solo - u already know the game. you such an experience so u'll know which tactics to use, which artifacts u need etc.
i finished the game yesterday for the first time and still can't say
that i did all the game has to offer...

This is why we have mods like the ascention and TDD and others. It really livens up the game if it gets to easy ;D
