In the book it says that a Paladin gets his Charisma bonus added to his armor class, but in the game I'm playing now, I don't see it. My charisma is 18 and my armor class is 10. Do I have to wait for a certain level for this to kick in, or is it a misprint in the book?

Yes, thats indeed a powerful combo. Well if you want to push your sorceror a bit further, just take one Level of Paladin.
Probably you put your points at Level up in Charisma, for a sorceror. So on 22 or 24 or even 26 Chr you got a great bonus on saving throws. You won´t mind about your sorcs AC at all.
Plus a couple of more HP, proficiency with all weapons, ability of Lay on Hands of a small amount (ok, that helps at the beginning only) etc...
Keep in mind, that he will forever keep to paladinhood in conversations. So if you´re planning to have him as spokesman, you´ll miss a lot of GP as reward. So that´s probably a bad idea.
Oh, and he has to be of Lawfool Good alignment of course...

that 'refuse gold' thing really sucks. i have 2 high charisma characters: a pal/ftr, and a mnk/sor. sigh forgot about this, so now i have to rely on my less sociable characters to collect the money. constantly refusing gold really puts a dent in the gold pouch at the beginning.

ermm... so far i have played until chapter 2's ice temple. whenever it comes to collecting rewards, u need not have a character highly charismatic (cha 16 or 18) to get it. i used my char 8 druid to get the monetary rewards, it's still the same. but there are one or 2 quests u might need diplomatic skills to get a better reward e.g. emma moonblade's quest reward: to get the moonblade of selune.
