True that also comes in mind.
The problem is that you're character is a half-god, and defeats dragons, and other very powerfull beings to reach the top.
So now i think about it, über-stats are rollplaying for the main character
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

Giving your soloing pure fighter strength nine is bad roleplaying...but then again, I have never ever met a pure fighter in BGII with STR less than 18, so it is refreshing to see a 15, 14, 16, 9, 14, 13 fighter every so often....

As for CHA, I always put it on high because I always try and roleplay a charming and charismatic character :) but that is just me :D

plus because I cannot bear to wear the Ring of Human Influence all game... ;)

Then why not just only wear it when you need it.

where'd u hear that? actually the reason the minimum of 9 is required because in 2nd Ed. rules, average ability scores is not just 9 or 11, but a range from 9 to 12.

Ps: he killed the party on second floor of the inn in Promenade right after he finished circus quest, he's quite a tank, I'd say(133 life, level 9, 153 or so when enraged and drawn upon holy might, :) heh, you gotta love pure power.)

yep, pure power, and pure foolishness. ur barbarian's dumb. can't believe he was raised by Gorion. :p

You don't defeat dragons because you have high stats. You defeat them because:
  • You have l33t equipment.
  • The AI sux0rz.
  • BioWare "balanced" the game so that you meet them when you are ready for them.

That's why you should download improved dragons. It al least takes away the AI bit. ;)

@aberrant: I don't want him to be smart :) the stereo type of barbarians has always been "dumb and powerful" so that makes him a good roleplaying character :p
It's a miracle what a good fighter can do

I know of several improved dragons. How they were improved, even. Believe me, with this scripting language there's only so much one can do.

You guys are lucky

I was toying with the idea of starting a new game last night, and spent a full 2 1/2 hours rolling. Why? Because I never got above a total of 81, which was extremely frustrating.

I wanted a monk class, so I was aiming for the following:

Str 15
Dex 18
Con 16
Int 9 (I wanted a character flaw)
Wis 17
Cha 15

That's not a big ask! It's a total of 90, but I got nowhere near it.

My view is you should never go above str 17 - why? Takes the fun out of finding items such as Gauntlets of Ogre Power or nullifies the benefits of casting 'strength' in the heat of battle.

In short, give your stats room to move because they will throughout the game.
