The pet you want

Post by fable »

That's right. Not the pet you have. If you could have any one single pet of your own choice, what would it be?

Anybody who suggests a person of the same or opposite (or any other) sex as a pet will be condensed into a 3 inch cube and given as a paperweight to Shrub. The Humorous Cliche Police will be vigilant! Image

Fable, are you OK? First a spam thread, now custom smilies...maybe he's been assassinated and his place has been taken by someone under the age of 31224?

Anyway, I'd love...any pet, really. I've never had one. This is due in part to the fact that both my mum and myself are allergic to pet dander, and despite the fact that my Dad has had it done successfully, doctors over here say that desensitisation doesn't work...I'd absolutely love to have a cat - I adore them so much, if only they didn't make my nose swell to Martian proportions and my eyes turn into a goop faucet... :(

A couple of gerbils would be quite nice too - I'm not allergic to them, but we're not allowed pets in Halls at University...

I always wanted a tiger. Or any other big cat for that matter.

English Bulldog. Don't know why, just think they are cool looking. For some reason, I have been hesitant to get one..oh, maybe its the $1000 cost the breeders are asking.

*sigh*....

A parrot, macaw, or c0ckatoo.....yeah....you guys saw it coming... :D But they live for about 100 years, so, barring illness or unfortunate incident, youve got a pet for life. And they are very friendly and loyal pets aswell. The main problem is that they are worth a fortune. A fortune I dont have. :( So I cannot afford to get one. But I really, really would like one.

I´d soooo much like to live in a house with 2 cats, 2 dogs (a chikukanaka or whatever those white soft big sledge dogs are called, and a little ill-tempered one), 2 chinchillas, a parrot, a giant aquarium with colorful fish aaand, a huge friendly tiger, like vicsun. (us danes  ...)
Not really the craving type, I guess...

Hmmm, well I've had two dogs in the past, both very dear to me, and now my sister has a rabbit, that I occasionally look at and sniff "Well its not the same as a dog, is it?"

Ideally, I'd love to have another dog, one of the powerful dogs that you can playfight with, I loved doing that, not a rottweiler or alsation though, they're too done and they aren't dogs that seem like 'pals'.

I fielded the first joke about my age back in 8,447 BC. The Humorous Cliche Police will be knocking at your door, shortly. :)

If it helps any, I have very serious asthma and allergies--have had, all my life. But we've added several large hepa-filter air purifiers to the house and a special air filter to the air conditioning/heating system, and can keep a pair of shorthair cats. If I can do it, it's possible. Consider altering your environment accordingly, and adding a single shorthaired kitten--perhaps a Manx (very short hair).

Get any lizard or bird, and I dont believe that would be such a problem. And most snakes and birds can make for very good pets. (Though Ive only been told snakes make good pets) :D

I have friends who have snakes and they are good pets. Some folks have problems putting live mice in a snake's cage. ;)

Well I like snakes, but Ive never really invested in getting one as a pet. The snakes that were pets that Ive come in contact with, dont really do a whole lot, but they are really cool when you take them out of their cage. When they wrap themselves around your arms, thats fun. When they wrap themselves around your neck, thats not so much fun. :D

Monkey

A monkey that can do three things.

Get me a beer when I want too.

Order pizza for me.

Clean up after me.

All the love and attention I'd give to my Labrador (That I will get sooner than later) and I'd be mean to my monkey and make him dance for me and friends. I think I'd give him a fez hat.

And of course if he got out of line I'd be forced to spank him.

What kind of pet would I want?
Hmm, I'd like my old dog back. :)

And a new pet... I always liked hawks.
But he'd have to know and like me, it wouldn't be mutch as an pet otherwise.

Hmmm...if the hawk was big enough, I bet he'd like you....in between a couple slices of bread. ;) (j/k) :D

But, hell, I imagine in order for most hawks/kestrels to be happy, youd have to have one heck of an open space so they can fly around. They dont like to be stationary. :D

@Kid A dragon? :D Hope you have fire alarms. :D ;)

Yes. Ive seen professionals handle hawks and vultures, they cover their shoulder and hands quite well. :D But I was unsure whether they were pets, or just being handled by professionals. But thats cool. Hawks are some of the magnificent looking creatures on this earth, and to have one as a pet, and both the hawk and yourself being happy would be awesome.
