Do you remember the originals - Pool of Radiance etc

Post by Danzar »

I was wondering whether there were any plans in the future to re-do the original classics, Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds & Secret of the Silver Blades in the same format as the existing Baldur's Gate series?

The stories were fantastic, and would certainly be worth doing again with today's technology.

Or has it already been done?????

Just curious....

They made Pool of Radiance:Ruins of Myth Drannor pretty recently. It had its problems but nonetheless it was the first dungeon and dragon game I ever played, and I loved it, its buggy as hell though you gotta be patient hehe, pretty good graphics, story doesnt even compare to baldurs gates, but then nothing does. But if they fixed those bugs and maybe used an engine like bg2's, a different story( a better one perhaps :) ) and I would love to play it.

Right on

I grabbed RoMD - I hated it. Buggy, bad story, inaccurate rules, so on, so on.

But If it's your first AD&D game, then of course you would love it.

The old POR, Azure Bonds etc are exteremely rich stories. Played at low levels initially, moving up as time goes on. You create all your own characters.

Forgotton Warrior, what do you think about setting up a Forum poll/petition which could be forwarded to Interplay?

Forum poll sounds like a good idea :) Not sure what effect it could have on their future games, but then again who knows, maybe if we'll get enough votes on it, then yea :D What do you people think?

Man, I loved those games on C-64! By the time you get up to Pools of Darkness, your levels are up in the 30's and 40's, but you're still being challenged with ridiculously hard fights. I'd love to play them again with todays graphics. I've always said, give me a fun game like those over a game with amazing graphics any day. Some games today focus too much on looks and not enough on substance and fun.

Heh. Don't worry about it. :) I wrote a scathing review of it for a magazine, at the time. Just exercise courtesy, and don't walk into the RoMD forum in order to disagree with everyone there. ;)

However, I am moving this thread down into the RPG Discussion forum. It's really not pertinent to BG2, and would probably draw more comments there.

You have to open a new thread.
There you can select "create a poll" at the bottom.

Just be sure you lay out your poll options very carefully, since you can't go back and amend them, later.

I played NWN once later on the Mech Warrior 4 : Mercenaries arrived so I uninstall it to free my HDD space (What can I say ? I'm a MW freak :D ). After backing up some of my data on CD i try to install it and learn that my CD #2 somehow got busted

I played RoMD, it was fun. I also played all the classic RPGs, like Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale, etc. but I still like RoMD. I have the latest patches, so I haven't really seen any bugs...
