poll: the coolest battle in the game?

Post by Robin_Hood »

I don't know if this has been asked before but at least I haven't seen it. So what's the coolest fight in the game? IMO, it's the battle in Bodhi's Lair when you're retrieving the lantern. I mean, with Drizzt, paladins of the Radiant Heart and the Shadow Thieves with my own party, kicking some vampire ass, it's just SO COOL! I just finished the battle the second time and this was the first time I had asked the paladins and Shadow Thieves to join the battle.
Centuries ago in England........It was an era of chivalry and magic. The evil Prince John unleashed an iron fist of tyranny upon the people. They called out for a champion.........one man answered that call. His name, was Robin Hood. Fearless in his quest for justice Robin Hood challenged the power of the high warlords. While protecting the helpless and the poor. Willing to face death for what he believed, along with the beautiful, lady warrior, Jaheira, the mighty Minsc, and the wise Keldorn. Robin Hood forged a legend that lives on today in............

I agree with Dude : my favourite battle is this in Bodhi's lair ("poor" vampires vs Manveru&company & Drizzd & Shadow Thieves & Paladins of the Radiant Heart - It is just a massacre)

I also like fight with Irenicus in spellhold and in Suldenessar (I like his disappointed voice :D -

Irenicus : "Who Dares ?!"
Manveru : "I dare....." :D

Irenicus : "My power my power is out from me....."

what a pity :D )
So sayeh

I rather liked the battle with the Shadow Dragon. I liked the music, accompanied the barrage of magic, wings and swords rather well I thought :)

I liked the battle with Irenicus in Spellhold, but it was waaaay to easy. Irenicus didn't cast any spells, because Valygar never missed with the acid arrows. I really didn't need any help from the mages, but the guy casted time stop and took out all the clones.

I also liked the battle vs, Vithal the mage in the Underdark. He had about 3 imprisoment 1 powerword kill, 1 spell trap, 3 time stops. What level is that guy?

Although a very minor battle, I personally enjoyed fighting the beastmaster behind CC. I used charm spells so that he was devoured by his own "pets." What can I say, it appealed to my sense of irony.

I liked the battle with Firkraag, especially when he toasted his pet mage. :D :D

I loved the battle between me and the Black Dragon in Suldanessellar. It was so cool. I loved the way you can use lightnign strike ability on the dragon, which is my favourite spell. :D :)

Soloing against the Shadow, Red, and Black dragons....
My Archer's racial enemy is dragons, so it was especially appropriate...
I was arguing with myself about the Silver, but I understand that you lose your Good alignment by fighting her....

The dragons, definitely. IMO, the game engine simply isn't capable of displaying massive battles involves plenty of foes in any easy, conveniently decipherable way--so a single large foe is much easier to view and analyze.

I would have liked to mention the first battle with Irenicus, but your view is too obscured, too distant, and too confused. A pity they couldn't have switched during battle to a closer-in view on a 3D combat engine.

I think the best battles are the ones where you have to fight a diverse group similar to your own because you have to consider different strategies for who should attack who and how. Therefore, the best fights in the game, I think, are Drizzt & friends, Twisted Rune, Guarded Compound, thugs in Firkraag's dungeon, and that group in one of the small areas in Tethyr (right after you get out of the underdark...you know what I'm talking about.)

against parties and dragons you certainly get very cool equipment, so it is alot of fun killing them.

Attacking Firkraag was really fun, but it took alot of reloading. Some of the fun battles are against party similar to your own. I mean like the ones in the guarded compound, the harpers, Twisted Rune, the group in the temple sewers, etc.

I agree on almost everything except the twisted rune being a party like mine :) What kind of party are you running?
I would have liked to fight more humanoid enemy parties.

Jaheira
Aerie
Jan

Okay so Jan is a bit like the thief, aerie is like the mage. You are the lich, keldorn the vampire, Jaheira the beholder and minsc the pitfiend they gate in. :)

I also think the party vs. party battles are some of the most entertaining. It gives more life to the game and adds a lot of fun as well, since you have to find your enemies' strengths and utilize your own to exploit their weaknesses while they try to do the same to you. At least, thats how it should be...

Personally I found the battle vs. the chickens in Umar hills the most fun. I just love it when the PC says "this is between us and the chickens ma'am!" LOL. I just love killing them chickens and you get a (MINOR SPOILER!) beljuril gem to boot. Also I find it amusing to use the rabbits (charmed) to kill people, reminds me of the Knights of the Holy Grail. Oh and one last thing, try getting all the NPCs your not using in one place by telling them not to go to the copper corronet and then fighting them all at once.
When logic and proportion,
Have fallen sloppy dead,
And the White Knight is talking backwards,
And the Red Queen's "off with her head!"
Remember what the doormouse said.
