Game is suffering majo slowdaon and crashing...help?

Post by Bloodstalker »

Ok, Here's whats going one. I installed the game...so far, so good. I run it, the intro movies and all runs perfectly. Then, I got to the main menu. Once I click on anything in there, I was having major problems. The mouse just hung, it moved, but there is like a 10 second delay, and it's not smooth, I move the mouse, and about 10 secongs later, it shows up wherever it was supposed to.

Fooling around with the settings, I knocked the color back down to 16 instead of 32. Now, I am fine until I get to the form party option. At that screen it does the same thing. Anyidea whats causing it?

My system is as follows

Pentuim 1 gig processor
384 Ram
Windows XP Pro
Hercules Prophet 4500 64 M video card.

Does anyone run this goame on XP? I am thinking it's either that, or possibly my graphics card. I notice when I open Task Manager, it's got my CPU at 100%. I got nothing running in the background.

Also, it randomly re-boots my machine. Sometimes as soon as I try to run it, sometimes when I try to close it out.

It has 1.2 patch. I tried DL'ing the latest patch, but the servers were busy. Besides, I wanted to see if anyone knew whether it was XP or Graphics related first.

Any help is appreciated

 :)

I am pretty sure that it is a windows XP compatibility problem. I have heard of this before. Check this thread @BS. Hope it helps. :)

No Problem BS :) , IIRC you can find a few custom solutions over at the technical forum of Ubi Soft that make the game at least playable on XP. Did you had any luck downloading v1.4 patch?

Well it might even fix the problems, you never know. Good luck with it. :)

One of the things I found to be a MAJOR help, was to save then shut down the game after a time to clear out my protected recycling bin (many A/V software companies use this). When it hits 1,500 files or so, the game gets choppy and this seems to solve that.

There are a few spots where XP doesn't do so well in the game. Check out my post from before. That's a big one there.
