There are plenty of them.

Theres more than three. Can't remember where they all are though. Image
Cartoon Law III
Any body passing through solid matter will leave a perforation conforming to its perimeter. Also called the silhouette of passage, this phenomenon is the speciality of victims of directed-pressure explosions and of reckless cowards who are so eager to escape that they exit directly through the wall of a house, leaving a cookie-cutout-perfect hole. The threat of skunks or matrimony often catalyzes this reaction.

If it is Kangaxx's quest you are thinking of - then there is a Lich(demilich) in the doks area. And the Liches for this quest are located in the brigde-area and the Unseeing Eye quest.
Then there is the one in the gate-area, but he is not related to Kangaxx.

You'll properly encounter other liches, but if i recall correctly, they are random.

There is one in the graveyard district. The door next to the west entrance to the lower tunnels.
Vicsun, I certainly agree with your assertion that you are an unpleasant person. ~Chanak

Also, there's one in the soul gem in the underdark, one in Ust Natha, one that would (sometimes) appear in the Spellhold maze and I think that's it. Anyway, I don't know if you can call Nevaziah (graveyard lich) a true lice, since he is a great deal easier and doesn't have any of the other liches spells (ie time stop, symbols, meteor swarm, gate...).

Also, depending on how powerful you are when you start a new game, the BG2 will drop liches all over the place when you go to the temple ruins to defeat the Shadow King.

Let us make it clear:
1. Regular liches: Almost all regular liches were listed in the postings above (let us add a lich in the Asylum and a lich at Twisted Rune). You always find them in their locations no matted what your level is.
2. Random liches: the dungeons in BG2 are adaptive to some extent. Therefore, you can find a lich anywhere where are undeads in the game, if you level is enough high. Examples: a lich (liches) in the Temple Ruins or in the Ghoul area in the Sewers (once I found there a lich, 2 Greater Mummies and a squaddra of Skeleton Warriors).

we all love the liches dont we.

but damnit with a party of members consisting lvl 10 and less ppl, its damn hard to kill em.
the trick i found was enter exit room protect from evil (incase gate is cast) and sometimez berserk minsc to counter maze.

but i want to fight him like a man, not like waiting for his spells to wear off so that i can kill him
any ideas?

Simple tactic:
Sunray (daystar or spell), breach, and then throw everything you've got at it. Mace of Disruption or Azuredge could help as well. Also, it IS possible to turn a lich.

Perhaps, it is (I have no experience) BUT liches are usually level 20 (Shangalar is level 26, Kangaxx is level 27). That's why turning always fails under normal conditions. Somebody should try after returning from Asylum with a super-level priest. Again, I have no experience.

when i took down the lich in the gate area i got the daystar sword, it would seem to be pretty good against liches, since it is longsword (1D8) + 2, +4, and it does double damage to undead also it lets you can cast sunray once per day.

You can't turn a lich in BG2? Not even a very high level priest, say... 27? I mean, if it's undead, it supposed to be able to be turned. Where does it say that liches can't be turned?

How can you tell what level various beasties are? That sort of thing appeals to my anorak wearing side.

Anyone who wants a real challenge should try to kill kangaxx. He cant be harmed by weapons less than 4+ and he is not considered an undead. (I found out after trying to use the mace of disruption +2 on him) Of course when you know which tactic to employ its not that hard.

Kangaxx is an undead. If he wasn't my Anomen wouldn't have been able to kill him with a mace of disruption +2 in chapter 3 (it was lucky shot too, 1st hit, good thing too because my only +4 weapon was the Staff of Rhynn and I didn't even use it).

err, he is? Was that why I got the message "weapon has no effect!" all the time while I tried to use that mace on him. Daystar isnt working neither. Argh...
