Whoa, what do you mean change your familiar? You can't change your familiar, it's based on your alignment.

try this...

CLUAConsole:CreateItem("famfer")

this allows you to have more than one familiar, but be warned, the game engine may puke when you move to tob, and the familar gets upgraded...

i havent explored it too much...

but the easy way is reload before summoning, or use the ferret decomposition trick, and change your alignment...

two versions....

release familiar, then open up the first slot on the left top row of your inventory, so its empty, then talk to familiar, and it should pop right into that slot...

accept a quest and complete it in which the quest giver gives you items, load up every slot in inventory, and when you get items from quest giver, the fam pops out, and hopefully will decompose in about a weeks game time, and you keep the bonus hp...

this has been reported not to work, so i came up with a variant that seems to work...

prep the inventory screen using method above, go to a quest that changes the map, like temple ruins...pop the familar before you go downstairs, using enchanted weapons spell or scroll, it creates a item, so it should familar pop, and when the shade lord quest is done, the map changes, and the familiar is gone forever....

bow, to put it bluntly, kemra, at the end of soa, the transition engine for soa to tob upgrades the familar...i know how to create the item that when used becomes a familiar, and in fact you can do some pretty amazing and fun things with it,

one time i changed the avatar for the rabfam or bunny to a red dragon, and when i released the familiar, my familiar took up the entire room.....whew!!!!!!!!!!!!

but seriously, i simply dont know what happens if you have a familiar in inventory you are not entitled to by your alignment,,,may crash the game...

either familiar pop it, using my variant, or delete using sk, and change alignment to lawful neutral...

actuallly, the only advantage of the ferret is slightly better pickpocket, but all familars can be used for the infamous smuggling contraband trick.....

if you want drow equipment or the rift device, empty the inventory of a npc, put the contraband in the inventory, and have familiar pickpocket it...

leave the area, and release and talk to the familar and ask it nicely for all the loot it pickpocketed....the rift device is a one shot ranged harm spell that totally ignores magic resistance, a nice wand indeed.... :D :)

Becoming the owner of a stonghold leads to a map change in the stronghold IIRC. This way I lost a lot of stuff I've stored in Mae Var's guild once ...

the planar sphere didnt change for me,....i left litter all over the store room, and that stuff was still there a day later....

its easy to tell if a map changes, since all areas become unexplored again, and loot on the floor goes away...this is how you know temple ruins map changes, since it becomes unexplored again and you have to recast clairvoyance...great spell, one of those you just keep around for utility...

Alignment change in Hell?...
but seriously, i simply dont know what happens if you have a familiar in inventory you are not entitled to by your alignment,,,may crash the game...

What would happen if you were a Mage of good Alignment, you had a familiar, and in Hell changed your Alignment to Evil? Would that cause any instability
in the engine? Thanks..

The Planar Sphere itself doesn't change but Hell goes away so you could drop the familiar out there...

Also, I wonder if this trick works during dream sequences (specifically the one you get in SpellHold when you have to fight Bhaal)? Or what about the "pocket planes" of the Twisted Rune or Jarlaxle?

For that matter all of Brynlaw (and the Sahuagin city) becomes inaccessible after you get to the Underdark. Does this count, I wonder?
