Nippy, my man, you have hit upon a goldmine of wonderfully delicious evil. I like it. I saw the mine, and you swung the first pick. Shame on you.
This armor...and the Doomblade...would not instantly affect the wearer/wielder. It would take time. Slowly a struggle for dominance would emerge, one that would manifest in homicidal rages, coming out at just the right times...in the heat of battle. The Doomblade is a blade of evil, conferring upon the wielder powers similar to that of a Holy Avenger...spell resistance, and upon command, the blade can cause a Cloak of Fear to surround it's bearer...
The blade can cast the spell Doom, the opposite of Bless. In addition, when drawn, the sword surrounds the wielder with a Magic Circle of Protection Against Good.
As Avenger, Thalimon's sword, sheds brilliant light, the Doomblade will, upon command, create a globe of magical darkness in a 10' radius around the wielder.
The wearer of the Demon Knight armor is granted darkvision, and the ability to see through magical darkness. The armor also will regenerate the wounds of the wearer. There are some other powers...the helm, for instance. But I can go into this at another time, yes?
BS...hmmmmmmm.

Hmm.... I like the idea of the ability being a temporary one.... since otherwise the amulet is a bit too overpowered....

@DW: I think so...after all, the blade transformed for Thalimon for a special purpose...it is not permanent. Goodness no.
As a side note, BS (or anyone else, heh ) would not necessarily become an anti-paladin by (foolishly) donning the Demon armor...the only ones who would undergo that irreversible transformation would be Thalimon, or Nippy...
The wearer would, however, be drawn into evil...which would not necessarily make such a one an enemy...but rather a somewhat perilous ally. Don't you think? I do...
Just my thoughts. I'll keep my fingers crossed until BS comes back online...*cough*BS *cough* do it man *cough*...

said evil items might tie in well with my own character and could actually help him out (not sure how). Of course, I still have a bit of catching up to do, so if the moment passes Ned by, so be it. Rest assured, when Flanders is mobile again, he will be written in with the utmost courtesy of recent passing events.

God damn Chan, you really want to whack someone don't you? Good job we can detect all that evil...
@ Ned, if I may, I'll point this out now, and say that when you approach the DF, Nippy for certain will be VERY sceptical, almost hostile about you being... well, undead. I don't know about Thalimon, but Nippy will be watching. It was exactly like I was worried about Thalimon, I watched him until I thought DW safe, and then when I found he was one of Torm, best of buds!
So you want the armour, eh?

don't know about the armor, we'll see. It sounds interesting and when the saga of flanders comes to light, perhaps a member of the group will have some ideas for reversing his affliction.
As far as the groups reaction, it would only be natural to be hostile given that vampires were battled on page 55. Thantor knows quite a bit of Flanders (see page 43??? for than commenting on having a weird "interview with the vampire" ). My hope is for him to act as negotiator and address the group when we meet just as he did with AC. Man, than sure is a social butterfly. he knows everybody.

@Nippy: Thalimon wouldn't consider even touching that demon armor, not for a moment...he is intimately familiar with the taint of the tanar'ri, remember...it's rather personal in his case. He is also unfalteringly devoted to Torm...Torm gave him a way, a means to overcome the dread evil of his ancestry.
@Ned: I knew there was a reason I liked you. Want the armor, eh? Well, there are three suits, you see...plenty for everyone. Happy day to you, Ned.

yes...that would be quite consistent....
lol!
Maybe the armor shifts the wearer's armour to a chaotic alignment ?

I would like to outline this idea, thus far, in this post, in order to avoid the addictive habit of spamming which I am so shamefully guilty of.
Lyrkuul was the chief of those Demon Knights...and for whatever reason, his armor and sword remain, while the equipment of the other slain cambions disappears back to the Abyss. Perhaps it is the taint of evil in these tunnels...or even the will of Demogorgon, Prince of Demons. There is also a chance Lolth has something to do with it.
The armor and the Doomblade radiate malignant evil...yet in this, they also appeal to something inside of the observer, awakening a lust for power that slumbers within. Out of fascination, the person reaches out to touch the ancient armor, covered in crimson sigils...and awakens the malignant entity in the Doomblade, allowing a telepathic link to be established. The Doomblade beckons the person to experience true power...power unlike they have ever known. Power to defeat their enemies...power to become a raging engine of death and destruction.
Donning the armor infers many powers upon the wearer...which can be detailed when needed. This character would undergo a slow, but steady, shift to chaos and evil...this is quicker if the person's alignment is chaotic already. Eventually, the inheritor of Lyrkuul's blade and armor would become Chaotic Evil.
Hopefully that last part answers your question, DW.

righto, DW
chanak, in addition to becoming CE while donning the armor, would one begin to change in other ways as well, perhaps even becmoing a demon knight themselves. I've battled cambions in the realm of bg2 but I really don't know what one is.

Lyrkuul's Armor
Here is a rough sketch I have worked up for the armor...other items forthcoming.
Btw, this is using the 3E...
Demon Knight Armor
Lyrkuul's Plate
Armor type: Full Plate (Heavy Armor)
Armor Bonus: 8
Enchantment: +3
Max. Dex. Bonus: +1
Armor Check Penalty: -6
Arcane Spell Failure: 10%
Weight: Half-weight armor - 25 lbs.
Special Abilities:
Confers Greater Regeneration upon the wearer
Strength +3
Charisma -2
Fortitude Save bonus: +2
Poisoned Spikes: This suit of black adamant is spiked upon the pauldrons and the knee guards. The wearer is entitled to execute one unarmed attack per round, in additon to the wearer's other attacks. The spikes do piercing damage, and inflict 1d3+1 hp of damage upon a successful hit. Critical range is identical to the dagger. Upon a critical hit, a target struck by the spikes must make a successful Fortitude save, or suffer the effects of a degenerative poison which robs the victim of their Strength (-1 point a round) and Constitution (-1 point a round)each for 10 rounds. The victim is entitled to a saving throw each round in order to halt the progress of the poison. The effects may be reversed by means of a Restoration spell or potion.
Alignment Change: Any who don the armor of the Demon Knight lord are subjected to the insiduous power of the entity contained within. Subtle at first, it's power and influence increase over time, causing the alignment of the wearer to shift along the spectrum, finally arriving at chaotic evil.
This suit of black Full Plate armor belonged to Lyrkuul, Lord of a thousand slaves, Demon Knight of the Abyss. Slain during the battle of the Abomination by the Dark Flames, his effects were left behind...artifacts of malignant evil power. The adamant armor, covered in crimson runes and glyphs of power, is enchanted in such a fashion that it will adjust itself to fit a prospective wearer, from M to L size.
Lyrkuul's armor is cursed...once donned, it cannot be removed by any means short of the direct intervention of an Outer Planar power.

@ All. My apoligies for posting at a bad time. I realized this last night, and in the morning I yanked it. Give me the go ahead when it would be a good moment to return.
I think know I'll have the time and will to post and keep up consistently.
I'm interested in this armour dilemma. Farscape is half demon himself, and part paladin, but he lacks the faith to keep himself firmly aligned with Torm (whom he doesn't have any great love for). He shifts back to being a ranger from time to time.
I've been thinking of finding a way to turn him into a somewhat evil character. Fallen in both ranger and paladin. Maybe anti paladin even.
If your interested, let me know. You guys are amazing.

The waves came crashing in like blindness.
So I just stood and listened.

More Demon Knight Stuff
Lyrkuul's horned helm.
Demon Knight Helm
Type: Great Helm
Generic Armor Bonus: +2
Weight: 2 lbs.
Special Abilities:
Only active when worn with Lyrkuul's suit of armor.
Darkvision: The wearer gains the ability to see even in utter darkness. This includes the ability to see through magical forms of darkness.
Detect Invisible: As per the spell, 3 times per day.
Wearer gains the Blind Fighting feat.
Firebreath: As per the potion, once per day.
Lyrkuul's great horned helm was left behind, next to his sword and armor, after his defeat in battle. Despite its great size, it is surprisingly light. The helm will magically alter its dimensions in order to fit the wearer of Lyrkuul's suit of armor. Unlike the armor, however, the helm may be removed at will.

The Last Item
Doomblade
Lyrkuul's blade of the Abyss
Damage: 2d6+5
Attack Bonus: +5
Enchantment: +5
Damage Type: Slashing
Special:
Keen: Increases chance of a critical strike.
Unholy: +2d6 damage vs. good creatures.
Dispel Magic: Usable 3 times per day.
Fire/Electrical/Cold Resistance: The wielder benefits from an elemental resistance of +10.
Draining, Vampiric: Upon a critical hit, there is a 50% chance that the sword will drain the target of life energy. If the victim fails a fortitude save, energy drain occurs. In addition, the wielder benefits by gaining 1d4 temporary hit points (this may increase the wielder beyond his mex hp total) upon a successful drain. The hit points will remain for 1 turn, whereupon they are deducted from the wielder's total (possibly resulting in the wielder's death).
Darkness, 10' radius: Once per day, the wielder may command the blade to create a magical globe of darkness centered upon his person.
Magic Circle Against Good: When drawn, centered upon the wielder. As per the spell.
Cloak of Fear: Usable 3 times per day. Upon command, the Doomblade will strike terror into the hearts of all surrounding the wielder (as the Cloak of Fear spell).
Doom: Twice per day, the wielder may call Doom (as the spell) upon his foes.
Demonic Rage: Once per day, the wielder may willingly enter into this state (as per the druid spell Animal Rage). There is a 10% chance every combat round, however, that the wielder will enter this berserk state, willingly or not.
Weight: 7 lbs.
Feat Requirement: Martial Weapon, Greatsword
Type: Two-handed
Alignment Change: Once possessed, the wielder is cursed to wield the Doomblade in combat. Contact with its unholy power has an effect upon the wielder, slowly shifting alignment to the ultimate destination of the artifact's influence: chaotic evil.
Telepathy: The Doomblade is intelligent, and can communicate with any creature via telepathy.
Anti-paladinhood: If the blade is wielded by a paladin, the character irrevocably loses his paladin status, and becomes instead an anti-paladin, servant of the powers of the Abyss.
The unholy sword of Lyrkuul is an artifact of frightening power, able to transform its wielder into a rampaging harbinger of death. The sword's massive blade is constructed of a black, alien metal, found only in the layers of the Abyss. The metal is engraved with tanar'ri runes of power, glowing crimson within the blood groove that runs the entire length of the blade.

I leave for a few hours, and you people are trying to make me into some sort of evil, disgusting, twisted fiend? The idea has merit
Actually, I do like the implications of what you all are talking about, but , unfortunalty, don't see BS getting anywhere near the armor. His aversion and distrust of magic would make him a little leery of something that powerful. besides that point, I got some things coming up for BS, and I don't think I could work an alignment change of this sort in with the changes BS is already about to undergo
BTW, if you had REALLY wanted to convince me, you could have let the armor boost my alcohol capacity

I think i can claim the armor
Alright gang, give me a little more time, perhaps until tomorrow. chanak PM'ed with some ideas that I had already thought of. Since our lines of thinking ran parallel, it seems like a good idea to write it in. The time to write it in is now though, and I'm only on page 62. All of the stuff has been real good and a nice chemistry is really showing. I'm just asking for a little time to get caught up so I can write in.
Also: question? Everyone seems to be hearing voices, obviously attached to people's past. Haunting memories, lost loved ones, etc, yet they all seem to do with individual pain and loss. Are such things being manifested by the abomination, the place itself, or something else. I figure it must be something the group discussed and if so, I have some voices that can play into my own character...for continuities sake, if you will.
Note: DOUBLE POST!!!! I didn't know if this belonged in the DF discussion or DF community so I chose both. I know, I know, whaddya expect out some green horn rookie.

@Chanak, great work re the armour! I am quite sure Flanders could put it to some good use
@Ned, it is good to see you plan your return! re the voices...well I guess that is the first sign of insanity right? In serioussness, it has not really been discussed, each is the work and the idea of the individual author AFAIK. I can only speak for Ysh, but it is her presence (and purpose) within in the underdark that is causing her to "seek the beauty" as trained to by her druid mentor. Please feel free to write in your own whispers from the past Would that include Uther? She was quite an instrumental influence on Flanders....
