Bassilus and Biff the Understudy

Post by Hesperus »

So I was taking out Bassilus after the little dialogue about his family and whatnot, where my PC was doing the dialogue business to try to sound like whatever family member, and low and behold during the fight appears Biff the Understudy! After Bassilus and all those nasty (for a 1st level F/Il) skeles were dead, I tried to talk to him, but he kept his mouth shut and doesn't even have anything to pickpocket . :(

I searched to forum on Biff and came up with the point that Biff appears whenever a NPC is unable to talk where dialogue is called for, but I had already gone through the dialogue and didn't attack Bassilus until after he was hostile. Any ideas why Biff appeared?

Sounds buggy to me... did you try to reload, fight Bassilus again and see what happens then?

Unfortunately I didn't reload to see if he'd appear again, I was pretty excited that he popped up and decided to leave him there, even though he wouldn't talk to me. I would imagine Biff popping up there wouldn't occur if I had reloaded on the basis of how many times I've played through and had never gotten Biffed. But the fight never goes exactly the same, so I though that perhaps something could have been triggered (I was hoping that I had beat the Biff out of Bassilus :) ). You are probably right and it is just a bug. For what it's worth, I went back there 8 game days later and Biff was gone. He must have gotten lonely or decided that he would need some serious acting education and needed to find a decent troupe. ;)
