Good tactic
Good tactic
This may be old news to many of you but I just found out how powerful the web spell is. A minor sequencer with two webs in it will seriously improve your chances in any battle... provided you don't get held yourself. And if you are wielding arbanes sword you are immune. A very good sword indeed. My new favourite.

High level druid spells are awesome. Creeping doom (takes too long to cast IMHO) and Nature's Beauty are two others I can't leave home without if I am playing a Druid.
Web and Scorcher are great level 2 spells to use in conjunction with triggers. I learned a lot from Xyx's Spell Guide

it may be a mod, but yoshimo holding arbanes sword was webbed when i was attacked by revenge spiders...and when i tested with my own webs, i got held holding arbane....
free action spell or ring worked perfectly fine...
and even keldy, immune to hold, got webbed...even wearing firkam full plate...
i had a pit fiend get webbed, planetars with obscene magic resistance get webbed...only the ring and spell, and over 100 magic resistance stopped it...web is obscenely useful, even bun bun, immune to a lot of things got webbed....you have to make multiple saves per round, hold is only one save, it has stopped pit fiends, planetars.....

drink a potion in inventory, then swap with chain contingency scroll, after your mages have got the spell...your druid can now cast chain contingency....load up a triple nature for really nasty battles, and watch them all go blind...hehehheheheh...

Will try it out tonight, User. Hmmm... I wonder whether this trick will work in the Final battle with Mel in ToB?

did every time....dont forget natures beauty is cast on self spell...mel herself has obscene magic resist, tho, but it got her pets.,....
"In my game arbanes sword stops web from holding you which is why I love it!
Going to be interesting to see how useful it is at higher levels.
Swashbuckler/mages are damn good... early on atleast."
arbane did not work for me, but then i was stacking webs 3-5 deep....
it may provide some immunity or help with a single web, but web becomes seriously insanely useful when you stack 3 or more....i think it can stop dragons with enough of them....
supposedly dragons are immune cause they "fly", but planetars are suppose to be immune too....
bruce, stack 3 or more, and have a char try it with arbane....

I have stacked three a couple of times in my current game and didn't get held... I'll try 5 when I get home. Don't know why it would make a difference if there are more than one though... if you are immune you are immune... If anything gets held it will be my crappy graphics card hehe...

3x Scorcher is great in a minor sequencer, just get 2 mages, with it memorised, make them fire resistant and then use their sequencers on each other. Your mages should take no/little damage, but anyone inbetween will take damage from all 6 scorchers.
What makes this even better is that you can move your characters and the scorchers follow you, so you can 'clothes line' enemies with your mages, especially if both have boots of speed. Which makes it a fun tactic against lots of low level enemies.

Great idea, I have never tried clothes line.
Thanks for the tip!

Whoa, Blanket of Flame. I like that. And it's not cheesy, either. Thanks for passing it along. Since I'm planning on playing my next game with two sorcs, I'll definitely try that tactic.

You can put 3 in the 7th level Spell Sequencer.
I love things like this. I often go out of my way to try them, even when there are easier ways to win the battle.
I once acidentally stepped on the lighting bolt trap in the Unseeing Eye quest and fried the shadows waiting down the hall. I have been trying to reproduce that effect ever since, even though shadows are fairly easy to kill.

Ah the noble art of bouncing lightning bolts of walls, difficult but when done right the damage is astonishing. I heard of someone using the old cloak of mirroring and the cloak of reflection to bounce lightning bolts between them... I think the person wearing the cloak of mirroring should be protected from lightning to not take any damage... dont do this in towns... in dungeons it is very effective hehe.

Heh. I've lost count. But you don't really take that much damage and the Ring of Gaxx restores it pretty quickly. The trouble is getting the angles right...
By the way this is also a great tactic in BG1 when fighting Garrick's boss (forget her name at the moment). She always casts lightning bolt and if you're standing in the right place you can get it to hit you once and her twice. That was the only way I could beat her when soloing a low-level bard.

try this...have person with cloak of mirrors or reflection set as the designated hitter, and either him/her or another party member casts mislead, in front of a large corridor, full of creepys...
then the mislead clone is placed at the mouth of the corridor, and the hitter stands in front of clone, while party hides, and sequences a triple bolt....fire the sequencer at the clone, who dies, but is completely expendable, while your bolts travel out frying every body in corridor, bouncing and having fun...
the only problem with lightning bolt is it must be cast on a valid target, and using a expendable mislead clone makes it fun to cast into fog of war...or a crappy summons from wand of monsters...
with spell 50, a 40 dice lightning bolt is a thing to fear....and respect...hehehhehe
