Annoying Bugs (Help!)

Post by Eriks »

I played BG back when it was first released, and now I am playing through it for the 10th time after I recently purchased it again ("The Original Saga"), because my old CDs were in bad shape. Anyway, there are a lot of annoying little bugs which I was wondering how I could fix. Some examples include:

When I help Drizzt with the gnolls he doesn't have any more dialogue for me, like he is supposed to.

The farmer on one of the maps around Nashkell who wants you to save his cow from the Xvarts keeps telling me "What are you talking to me fore, they are killing Arabelle [his cow] as we speak!" AFTER I saved his cow and killed ALL the Xvarts.

The farmer on the northern most map who wants you to kill the zombies doesn't acknowledge that I have killed all the zombies when I know I have (I checked the entire map and counted to make double sure). He just keeps saying something like "Lookit I told you to count them as you go, you still have a few to go".

The worst one is when Scar sends me to investigate the Seven Suns and I save Jhasso (spelling?) and kill all the Dopplegangers and when I report back to Scar I dont't have the option to tell him I did so, only that I talked to Jhasso and that the Seven Suns has been infiltrated. He asks me to go back and wipe them out, even though I already have and as I said, I don't have the option to tell him that I did so. He ends up sending the guards to do it, which is really insulting to my skills

These are nothing major but really annoying and ruin my roleplaying so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Baldurdash should be able to fix most of that...

Thanks for that coot, I found some very useful things that I downloaded on that url, but unfortunately none of the bugs I listed above had fixes on that site :(

Well, I take it that you have installed the official patch...

Actually, no. The reason is because when the game first came out I played it with no patches and never had any problems. Then when I installed the patches later I started getting some wierd bugs, much like the ones I am refering to now. Oh well, I guess I will have to try the patch won't I?

Hmmm, I don't think there is a patch for the Original Saga...

It may be, if you are getting the same type of bugs you did when you patched the original installation as you are now, that the patch was included on the new CD's. I'd say odds are, the game being shipped now is pre-patched :)

Guess what? I got a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell!
