where is garren ?

Post by -=- Nerun -=- »

i'm playing the second time now, and when i went to the windspear hills, everthing seemed to be the same as the first time: killing, collecting, king strohm, rescuing the child ...

... except one thing, i killed firkaag the fist time i was in the dungeon (which i'm very proud of, because three of my characters are lvl 9, one is 11, and one is 12).

when i came up, garren wasn't there to thank me and so on (=NO EXP Image ).

i went to his cabbin, but there was just his wife, even his son wasn't there. in earlier topics i read something about him beeing at the most radiant order ... but i didn't find him there either !!!

please, help, thanks

I had the same problem in the last game. I couldn't find him anywhere. Feeling gyped, I used Shadowkeeper to add the approporiate XPs and didn't feel guilty about it one iota. Image

U have to rescue his child first, then go out, u will get a quest to kill Firkraag later.

Have you
1)killed the mage and got the cell key?
2)opened the cell and spoken with child in the cell?

HTH,
L.
P.S. BTW, if you do not clear the cache before startig new game, you may sometimes expect very strange things. I suspect even that you might wish to restore initial overrides at occasion.

@Nerun: I did it the same way and had no problems, it must be a bug or something.

@Loredweller: what is it about that cache thing ? little explaination needed ...

@Angelus: thx

@poll: does anyone know, which exp-type it is (i think everyone of my characters got a fixed amount the first time, and not a big bunch for the whole party), and how much you get? maybe i'll have to use the shadowkeeper Image

@Nerun: there is a folder called "cache" in your BG2 installation folder where the files for the various areas you already visited are saved. I think by clearing the cache he means deleting those files. I personally never do this and never experienced strange things, at least not all too strange.
