Turn Undead Question

Post by Valdin »

I'm never sure what this skill does...Does it turn your character into undead to gain undead benefits (if any) or do undead monsters convert to your side on a successful hit with this?

Turn undead makes undead run away from you, if successful. Also if your're good it might destroy them or if evil it might make them join you. Depends on how powerful your cleric or paladin is, and how powerful the undead creature is.

It gets deactivated if you attack or cast a spell though.
Don't think you know all the answers.

When activated, it makes undead afraid of you, might even kill, if you are of good alignment. If evil alignment: You can control them.

Very handy...

Turn Undead isn't that great of a skill and it's a waste of few rounds. If you use AI scripts for your party, don't bother with Turn Undead.

Well it certainly is the easiest and quickest way of dealing with undead...

it ain't that bad when you occasionally come up against all those gangs of mists of various types at a relatively low level - 2 or three characters turning undead and the rest letting fly with ranged weapons works exceptionally well. still, it's not at all useful in the heat of battle
Here where the flattering and mendacious swarm
Of lying epitaths their secrets keep,
At last incapable of further harm
The lewd forefathers of the village sleep.

I find turn undead very useful, especially in the ghoul town (unseeing eye quest) and the Umar Hills quest. Get your preist to 12-13 level and they can destroy every undead up to mummies. It's great fun to watch six mummies marching toward you, then all of a sudden they all explode into ity-bity bits. Talk about an easy kill.

well, actually, it depends on HOW you use...cast sanctuary, or mislead is best, aerie at high levels just winnows thru the masses of undead....

and as bloody pointed out, evil clerics, especially using sanctuary or mislead can make little armies of them to exploit as summons...

evil cleric mislead? is that possible? only if you give aerie helm of opposite alignment or sk her to chaotic evil.....

"i never imagined we would do such great things!!!" as you kill bystanders and other nice people...hhhahahhahahahahhah....

but be warned, smarter mages, includes smarter liches, which are really very smart and very damned annoying can see you sanctuaried and triple cast something nasty at you...since i have spell 50, getting a 40 dice abu dahzim is just not funny, anymore...hehehhehehehhe
They call me Darth...

Darth Gizka!

Muwahahahahhahahha!!!

I haven't tried it (but probably won't)...

...but I think it is possible to turn paladins if you are an evil cleric of high level.

Personally, I use Anomen to turn those vampires when they come in bulk. I don't want to be bothered on having to restore my other characters who would be drained of levels...

...all it takes is just one round.
