Im planning on making a fighter/thief for my online party and was wondering what would be the top equipment to go for?

I would say that regarding weapon I would say the Celestial Fury and a good bow (long/short according to your own opinion)

As for the rest of the equipment, well the ring of Gaxx is always nice, Girdle of frost-giant strength or something like that.

there are so much equipment - that what it really comes down to, is what you like to use Image

I am sure that you have made up your mind but what is the reason that you don't go with a pure thief (assassin, bounty hunter or Swashbuckler)?

Regarding armor I would go for either a "pure" armor - so you can use a RoP +2, if you'ed rather use another ring - then "nights gift" +5 leather armor would be my choice. Boots of Speed are also a great help for a thief Image

For AC, I'd go for the shadow dragon armor, useable by thieves. Night's Gift, though, is my favorite.

Boots of speed come in handy after backstabbing and to lure people to traps. Ring of Gaxx is the best ring in the game, so if your thief is the PC, it'd be a good idea. Any rings of invisibility help, too. Celestial Fury and the Gesen bow are probably best choices for weapons, if you're a power gamer. I like the Firetooth dagger +3, myself, even with it's limited range.

It was just because I am curious there is nothing wrong in picking one or the other they are almost as good only it is up to you to decide. You do lose out on the big backstab multip. poison etc. but if your party is lacking "tanks" then fighter/theif is the best choice.

Sage out

Yeah, most people seem to give the ring of Gaxx to their tanks, but I think it's much better for thieves. Look at its stats, think like a thief, and you'll see what I mean.

Oops, forgot. If you're playing an assassin, or if you're into traps and backstabs, then the Mercykiller ring is a must have. Right now I've got an assassin with Night's Gift, shield amulet, Celes. Fury, Tansheron's bow, Mercykiller, Gaxx, non-detect. cloak, boots of stealth, and 19-strength belt. She grooves. Image

In my opinion the Shadow Dragon armor is the best armor for a thief...AC 1...Nights Gift is AC 3...the 20% to hide in shadows is not necessary if you put enough pts in hide in shadows...

Since you're the thief, pickpocket the first Ring of Gaxx and keep it for yourself Image

Another ring I like with thievs is the Mercykiller Ring.

How does the shadow armor compare with these two?

About the Shadow Armor - worse AC, better hide in shdows, not worth it.

One character I'm playing is a Kensai/Thief and even though he shouldn't be able to wear any armor, I read that he can wear shadow armor. Would this be true for the Shadow Dragon armor or Nights Gift? Has anyone tried this?(When you have both Kesai & Thief abilities)
