Strongholds

A couple of questions about the stronghold institute: 1) does anybody know of all the different stronghold types and whereabouts, and 2) when playing in multiplayermode , controlling all of the players myself, can all of my characters get strongholds?

Well, I don't know all of them, but I know a number ...

Priest: Temple of your deity (Helm, Talos or Lathander) (Temple district)
Fighter: De'Arnisse Hold
Thief: Thief's Guild (Docks Area)
Bard: Five Flagons Inn (Bridge District)
Druid: Druid Grove (near Trademeet)

As for your second question: no, only the protagonist gets a Stronghold quest. Well, you can do the step-up to each one of them, but except for the one that fits your character, they all stop there.

What does a monk gets?

Im almost certain that the monk and barbarian get the fighter stronghold, but paladins get a space in the most noble order of the radiant heart building in athkatla

Do mages get a stronghold ?, I assume if they do, it would be a library or tower somewhere.

That isn't exactly true. They don't all stop there. If you are a fighter/mage (in my case, a fighter/mage/cleric), you can get two strongholds. After you do the quest for the Fighter stronghold, refuse the offer, and she says she will wait. Go do the planar sphere quest which will get you that stronghold automatically. You can then go back to Nalia and accept her offer to get the fighter stronghold, which will give you two strongholds. Fighter stronghold is the only one I know of that gives you an offer rather than just giving it to you right away.
