I have forgotten where you find the rune to upgrade it... and I couldn't find ii searching here either. The search function is great but the AND, OR stuff doesn't seem to work IMO. Maybe it is just me. Anyway if anyone know where to find that rune I'd be happy if you could post it here :D

IIRC, it's in the hut in the Sendai area (before you go underground). You can get it before or after you dispense with the drow.
