Joining the Thieves Guild

Post by Demis »

Except the requirements for joining the Thieves Guild is there any other factor that you need to meet before you can join?
I started playing the game again, but I cannot get to join the Thieves Guild this time even though I created a thief-like character again. I am guessing it’s just because I am a member of other guilds since my stats are high for the Thieves Guild. Here are the details:

Agility and Speed = 50+

Security = 47
Sneak = 50+
Light Armour = 60+
Others skills are more or less around 20 by now.

And I am currently a member at the Mage Guild, Fighter’s Guild, Temple and Imperial Cult, though when I tried to join I was only a member to Mage and Fighter Guild but still my stats should let me in. And even now with these stats the Thieves guild says: “we have some standards and you do not meet them”. Since I knew from the first times about the code book I joined fighters Guild first and got the book from Sottilde with bribe, is this prevents me from joining the thieves? Any help would be appreciated.

It's heard that if you do code book quest without being in the Thieves Guild, you aren't welcome here. So there ethical considerations instead of attributes and skills might be suggested. The only safe way i know is to be in the Guild and steal the book. No problems then - if you're not caught :D It's only natural, because in first case they know you've worked for Commona Tong, so consquences follow ;)
However, for sure i know only in case of bribing. Mayhap if you pickpocket the book it's not important if you're in the Guild or not.

player->joinfaction "thieves guild"

(may need to try a couple of variants on the name of the guild to get it to work)

Thanks

If they will not accept me it's there lose, :D . My character has hit the mid levels by now and i start to like steeling what i see fit. I might use the "cheat" to join in but right now i have my hands full with the Imperial Cult quests.

I just taunt Sottilde into attacking me and kill her for the code book...everyone's much happier that way. :)

When I played the second time and joined I realized how much of the game I had missed what with their struggle with the corrupt fighters guild and Commona Tong. I just skip the code book altogether. Also Gentleman Jim Stacey wants improve the image of the theives guild so he has you do some special benevolent quests for him.

Hmm, i am beginning to have seconds thoughs now. I did made a couple of quests for the Thieves Guild at earlier games but i never finished the guild so i don't really know what happens later on but sounds like fun. The problem is i can't go back now.
