Cheating in Icewind Dale II

Post by InfiniteNature »

Okay I finally came up with my team, and have made up a few really nice stories so that I actually care about some of the characters, rather then just powergaming them I mean, more role playing them so anyway I need the to cheat to give them some items, can I just CLUA them in or what, you edit the baldur's gate ini file debug mode=1 etc. I know I know why would you want to cheat at the beginning of the game, its just not fun, but to fit my stories they have to have some items at the beginning, anyway its never made much sense to me that a player starts of with no weapons or armor at all, not even pathetic armor or pathetic weapons, I mean you get a thief he or she is bound to have a dagger or something like that rather then a stupid little quarterstaff, I can see why they wouldn't have armor, I mean its expensive getting armor, but not having any weapons pertinent to their class, is that really realistic?, or fitting the role playing feel.

So anyway due to my role playing enthusiasm this is my party:

Anlesheron-Half Orc barbarian-male-proficiency axes, shields, friends to Falendon my shielf dwarf cleric of Oghma. He and Falendon are both traveling to Targos to see the troubles in that area, this guy doesn't trust anyone but Falendon who's sort of a surrogate father for him, he has a extraordinarily low charisma, but a better then average (for half orcs) intelligence, his stats I plan to max out on strength, dexterity, constitution, and as high as I can get in intelligence, with both wisdom and charisma being my lowest choices. He despite being a barbarian doesn't like barbarians in general and has a general distrust of all others in general, mainly because his mother was a barbarian, but was forced out later on because of prejudice and so he was forced to survive on his own, both he and his mother made their way to Luskan where they were then met by Falendon who took the young half orc under his wing, as a consequence of this Anlesheron is curious about everything and has a high intelligence relatively speaking that is.

Falendon-shield dwarf cleric of Oghma-male-proficiency warhammers and shields. He's very charismatic(whatever I can get thats high) for a dwarf and, has very high wisdom(plan on 18), that coupled with his 19 constitution, and his strength maybe a healthy 14 or 15, intellgence is low maybe 10 or twelve, dexterity maybe 10(how many points do you think I can put into this, can I compensate by giving him full plate or something) He is like I said almost a father to the half orc, he's well traveled and has traveled all the way from the Snowflake mountains, his home. He's going to be my lore master.

Artelia-Wild Elf sorcerer- female-proficiency quarter staff or bow or sling not sure if ICwII allows this(I mean bows with a sorc or wizard class). She left the deep forrests of her home to search for her mother, who after she was born left mysteriously. The search for her mother has driven her into the city of Luskan, where hearing of news of a description fitting her mother in the town of Targos, she chartered a ship there, upon the ship she met the group she will be adventuring with she doesn't trust the two humans nor the elf from Evermeet, but is comfortable with the cheerful dwarf and his gruff half orc surrogate son. Max out charisma 18, Dexterity 19, wisdom 14, Intelligence 14, strength 8 or 9, constitution, 8 or 9. Needless to say being a sorcerer Artelia's mother is not going be of average parentage so she is both anticipating and dreading her meeting with her mother.

Tiranda-moon elf wizard-male-proficiency quarter staff or bow, again not sure how ICWII treats this. Hailing originally from the island of Evermeet, Tiranda is extremely secretive about the reasons for his exile, yet from hints dropped during conversation you suspect that he was a bit to curious in his experiments with magic and created something he is unwilling to speak of, this thing getting him exiled from the island. Tiranda has a large amount of curiousity, and intelligence(18), but not much wisdom as yet anyway, still young for a elf(wisdom 12), Dexterity 19, strength 8 or 9, constitution 8 or 9, charisma very low. He is largely self taught and experiments often in magic, his companions who has only recently met look at him with fear as to his crazy experiments, of course later on I plan to edit his stats to reflect his growing wisdom, as his experiments finally teach him caution. He is not very charismatic and generally keeps to himself, occasionally he does spare a few kind words for Artelia, who he appears attracted to, he is not trusted by most of the group especially Sharia and Anlesheron, and only socializes if it could be called that with Coyote and Falendon, in general he appears to be rather shy, again I plan on modifying this later on in the game (charisma)in accordance with his increase in socialization.

Coyote-human fighter(three levels) then dualed to Rogue-daggers longswords, ambidextrous. He grew up in a family of seamen and spent most of his childhood on the ocean, he has traveled around the world of Toril, and consequently trained with some of the best swordsman there are, but the sailing life did not suit him and he yearned for what he thought was a life of adventure, so much to the trepidation of his mother and father, Coyote said his goodbyes and left ship at Luskan. While idealistic in the beginning he found the life of adventure was not all it was made out to be, and so he fell on hard times, even attempting to rob a merchant simply to survive on the streets of Luskan, attempted I said as he was caught and thrown in the local prison, there to have his hands cut off in the morning. He was rescued by a beautiful theif named Sharia, who put his fighting skills to good use and started to teach him theif skills, after several weeks the two became lovers and the two have been inseperable. Coyote and Sharia were forced later on to leave the city of Luskan and charter the most of out of the way place possible, Targos, due mainly to their implication in the assasinations of several prominent Luskan officials and two wizards of the highest order. Coyote was pleased to finally be out of the crowded city and once more on the open seas and looks with excitement at the adventure in Targos. This character has a fairly high strength though not really the ideal of muscle bound 16 strength, Dexterity 17, Constitution 18, Intelligence 15, Wisdom 8 or 10(does not know much of the world, at least on land anyway), Charisma 14 or 15(very sociable and optimistic, out of the group he Artelia and Falendon are the most charismatic, but he is not a leader Falendon is that).

Sharia-human-female-rogue-short swords, daggers, ambidextrous. Sharia has had a hard life, born to a prostitute mother, abandoned on the streets to do what she would as very young babe. She was taken in by Banitel the Black(a thief of much renown), as she grew Banitel taught her much of what he knew, and she became a able theif, but at the same time Banitel was a lecherous dog and molested her as a child many times, at the age of eighteen Sharia grew tired of it and poisoned her surrogate father, by dropping a few drops of cyanide in his drink. Since then she has been on her own, and has acquired quite a reputation, Sharia the Silent she is called. Sharia in general stays away from all men and most women, but on her own has been hard as well, her good looks generally attracting the worst sorts, so several times she has been the brunt of rape . At the age of twenty however Sharia's life changed and she met a charismatic fighter named Coyote, surprisingly she took him under her wing and grew to trust him and eventually they became lovers. He was the only person she grew to trust and would allow to even touch her, she distrusts all other men and women equally. Then both Coyote and Sharia were implicated in the assasination of several prominent Luskan officials and two archmages, they chartered a ship to the most out of the way place possible, Targos to escape the assasins which even now dog their steps.
Sharia does not trust anyone of the group but has been convinced by Coyote to stay with them, she personally considers him to be a idealistic fool and is staying with him because she loves him and wants to protect him from his own foolishness. She especially does not trust Tiranda, mainly because she suspects him of being some sort of assasin sent to kill them. Sharia is a very good thief and due to a hard life very tough as well, Dexterity 18, Constitution 16, Strength 14, Intelligence 14, Wisdom 14, charisma as low as I can get it(due mainly to her social problems and paranoia).

Anyway sorry for such a long thread, but since this is a Icewind Dale II thread, I thought a little role playing would be harmless, anyway would anybody be able to tell me if I can cheat in Icewind Dale II, if its the same way, and perhaps point me towards some good cheat sites, I just want basic stuff not magical armor weapons or whatever or anything like that, you know one or two daggers, a sword or two maybe some armor for the dwarf, with that I'll be content, also since I will be editing stats can you edit them the same way?, or is there a new program?

You can get Dalekeeper 2 to modify your inventory, stats etc. There is a link in the spoiler sicky thread at the top of this page :)

while i agree that the starts w/ no equipment save a staff, approach does not feel right w/ this game (it worked in bg1 & 2 for plot reasons)

a half hour into playing the game you will have all the mundane equipment you'll need.

but if you must cheat, dalekeeper2 is your best bet. link - here

w/o sounding too preachy i'd say that you can make these char's work w/o having to add stats to them w/ cheats. esp since this is your first party why not start the game legit? if you need to move some stats around you can start by reducing your odd numbers...

all elves start w/ basic proficency in bows and long swords even the wizards & sorcs.

Wow, nice bios. Well done. There's a PnP gamer trying to get ou!

Mundane items scattered in Targos picked up during the first 20 minutes:

leather armours
short and long swords
short bows
small and medium shields
Axes and hand axes
spears

There are a few extra items too: a chainmail, tower shield and a long bow.

Still, the pre-generated parties get basic equipment, - getting the above without scavenging would have been nice.

koz-ivan and Gruntboy are totally right. InfiniteNature,
if you are truly just needing some non magical daggers, swords, and such you will get them within the first 10 minutes of gameplay, actually if you have a high charisma character in the first 10 seconds after beginning to walk. Your thread was way too long so I did not read all of it, but just one advice, if you are thinking to give really low wisdom to your half-Orc, unless you manage to magically increase his mind saves somehow, it will be as useful as a pet in combat in later chapters, and even a real headache when frequently turning against your own party. I think, as a rule of thumb frontliners should have always respectable mind saves.

mundane equipment = non magical gear. by the time you finish in targos (and visit some shops) all your char's should have proper armour, a minor magic weapon, and perhaps a few trinkets.

it sounds like your char's are just like everybody else's, everybody wants better gear then they have, i slept a *lot* in the earlier stages of the game, until heal & mass heal spells became avalible - then i slept to refresh spells...

as far as magic weapons go, i was pretty happy w/ the gear once i got through about half the game. then there were only minor weapon upgrades after that. (your results may be different)
