I have a ranger/cleric that is trucking along. I hit 1,125,000xp and get to be 13th level as a cleric - and the Abilities button is lit up. Confused, I select whirlwind. I didn't expect to start getting them until 1.5M+ xp.
I next get to 13th level as a ranger, and this time no HL ability. I shrug and carry on. I gain 14th level as a cleric and again get an ability. I don't gain one when I hit
14th level as a ranger, at 1.5M, but I do at 15th as a cleric. I have no idea why I'm getting abilities early as a cleric, and not at all as a ranger.
I did have a simulacrum from Vailor's Helm active when I hit 13th level as a cleric - I think the simulacrum is under the affect of an energy drain, and wonder if something got confused and thought I had more xp than I really do?
Anyway, I better start getting HL abilities on ranger level ups, or I'm gonna be irritated - anyone know what's going on?
Ranger/cleric and high-level ability bug?

I didn't build that ship for nothing!

My Cleric/Thief started to get high level abilities when the XP sum for both classes reached the amount of XP needed in a single class (between 3 and 3,3 million). This is probably a bug, the program seems to calculate the point when you get high level abilities using the total XP amount, no matter many how many classes you have. This bug heavily unbalances the character IMHO.
If both classes get the abilities around the same number of XP, you can choose each time one class levels up. You can also choose from both pools if only one class goes up in level (or at least I can), which is a second bug.
Another interesting point is that if your character has a thief class, the "use all items" ability will override weapon limitations of all other classes. You still can't learn every weapon, but a Cleric/Thief can at least use a two handed sword for example.

Ya, same goes for my F/M/T. Before all was said and done he had an insane amount of high level abilities. And i think i started get'n em when my thief part was really low, like level 14 or so.
3 GW, 2 Hardiness, 2 Critical Strike, 3 Spike traps, Use any item, extra spells for 6 7 and 8, 2 Assasinations and a few more other stuff. Its pretty darn spiffy.
Btw, Assasination + improved haste while dual weild'n CF and Belm = insane dmg. Went toe to toe with Irenicus/slayer and handed him his ass in a brown paper bag. Kinda makes me wonder how you hippies beat him w/o high level abilities and level 9 spells. I never have played BG2 much w/o TOB installed.
