Does anybody else think that Druids in BG2 really suck ?

Post by Rael FalDara »

Hi!
I have a question for the hardcore D&D Players: Why is the druid levelup table so unfairly biased ? I personally like Jaheira but if she reaches 1,500.000 Xp the next levelup is at 3,000.000!!!! WHY in heavens sake ? is this a D&D rule or a bioware implementation - and whats the point with cutting the XP to zero and starting from scratch .... maybe somebody is willing to explain. Im really considering playing with the *.2da files to get at least 2 more levels (at 2 mill + 2.5 mill XP) For comparison:
Fighters level up every 250.000
Mages 375.000
in the later stages at least....

As I understand it, in AD&D Druids get some rather powerful abilities after level 14, and Bioware decided to cap their levels at that point for SoA. ToB allows druids to make more levels, but then EVERYONE gets powerful abilities.

Single-classed druids are okay though. Jaheira really feels the strain of multi-classing, more so than any other multi-classed NPC in my opinion.

IIRC, Bioware implemented it. Bobsy is correct; druids get mighty powerful at level 15. With ToB, once they reach 3 million (thus level 15), they get a massive bonus to their spells.
If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.

As soons as they reach level 14 they gain realy a lot of new spells, that are great!
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

Ya, i'd say druids suck. Even with their high level spells and such. Only wow spells they get are creeping doom and natures beauty(and thats only good due to the cheese factor). Fighters, thiefs, and mages are really good. Seems like all the other classes gett he shaft.

Rael FalDara,

Compared to the other classes at level 12 for 300 000 exps Druids are even ahead of Theives in fast exps. So for a low level party Druids are pretty good value.

In PnP at 13th level Druids had to become part of a rigid heirarchy (Can anyone say Lawful? :D )and could only advance by individual contests (much like the druid grove stronghold quest - except EVERY level). Druids are also expected to commit their time to the welfare of the natural environment around them. The chances of having a full time adventuring Druid at a level higher than 12 in PnP are essentially NIL. The exp allocations and other stuff reflect this difference for the class.

Monks are also supposed to be restricted in numbers at levels and advance only by individual combat.

Really AD&D rules were only meant to cover characters up to around 'name' level after that it all gets pretty silly IMHO.

Druids level up differently from other classes. They are very good at the first part of both SoA and ToB, but doesn't advance too much later.
They are not as good as a mage/sorcerer, but I wouldn't say thay are weaker than a warrior, cleric or (SoA) thief. Nature's Beauty is really good, almost cheese, but every class has its perks.

get her high enough, cheese potential becomes frightning...

jahiera is immune to poison right now, so cast multiple cloud kills in area, and send her in to distract and occupy monsters while cloud kills them.

potion swap, chian contingency, triple natures beauty or a triple creeping doom...

greater whirlwind and elemental transform=hurts lots.
They call me Darth...

Darth Gizka!

Muwahahahahhahahha!!!
