Technical problems

Post by MegaToerist »

I can't seem to load any saved games anymore (which makes it hard to complete the game ;) ).
Whenever I click on the "Load" button (before you get the list with all saves), BG shuts down and displays:

"An assertion failed in InfScreenLoad.cpp at line number 1481"

I tried re-installing, but it didn't work. :(
I have installed:
SoA, ToB, ToB patch, Baldurdash fixpack and Ascension 1.4
The game ran smoothly earlier (with exactly the same config)...

Does anybody what I need to do to fix this?

Thanks,
Geert

My only suggestion would be to go through a simple process of elimination to determine what exactly is causing the problem. Uninstall everything, then try running just SoA. If it works fine by itself, try it with ToB. Then with Baldurdash. You get the idea. :D

here are some links and ideas that might help you out

InfScreenLoad.cpp at line 1492

Corrupt portrait bitmap. Go into the directory of the save game that is giving this error and delete all the .bmp files. Load the game and then re-save.

here is bioware's tech support page

did you switch any portraits or anything like that.

my guess the solution presented above for the assertion error will probably work for you as well. backup your save files and give a whirl
