Estate of Saerk Farhhad - What is this place?

Post by Indra »

This is my third run through BGII and I've always been puzzled by this place - you all know it. It's the big castle like building in the Bridge district, overlooking the Marketplace where Bel Daelmark and the other shopkeepers sit. It's diagonally opposite the Five Flagons Inn.
What is this place? Is it part of any quest? The main door is locked, there is an access in through the roof. The interior is exactly like the Guarded Compound, full of low level guards, and has a safe with a few 1000 gold pieces worth of goodies. The whole place is worth, say - 10,000 Gold pieces? Is this linked to any NPC sub-quest/plot? My F/M/A and Jan are itching to case this place, in our honorable mission to lighten the load on Athkathla's nobles, but we're not sure we'd be breaking something in the process...
Thanks in advance..

Romance Anomen - and you'll see. ;)
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

It is one of Anomen's quests, you don't have to romance him to get it. I know because I was playing a male PC at the time.

SPOILERS (wanted) ...highlight

Otoh, if you finish Anomen's quest correctly and he passes the test, the estate is still there.
I wonder if it would be safe to loot the place by then?
A little revenge in the name of Sir Anomen's family ;)
Anyboy ever tried?

Where we came from, we don't know
Where we're going.... (even worse)
And about who we could be, we actually have trouble in clearly defining the term "to be" in the first place...

You can loot the place even if you're not doing the quest. Mind, there's nothing fantastic in there; still...
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Well, Anomen or no Anomen, I just had to case the place. You can sweep the whole 2nd floor, just not the room where the safe is. (Which is where the loot is, BTW). A guard raises the alarm as soon as she sees you...and I was visited by, well: 6 Amnish guards and 3 cowled enforcers screaming for my blood (I have toughest dungeon spawns). That's one place I'll leave alone for a while...maybe when I'm leaving for Suldanesselar..
