"Greater Deathblow, perhaps my favorite HLA, can kill mind flayers, beholders and more instantly! Improved haste on an archer with the tuigan bow, run into a beholder nest and watch them all die in seconds."

You know, @User, there are probably grounds for regarding you as the single most overpowered aspect in BG2. :D ;)

I've tried fire seeds with Jaheira before, I actually discovered that by accident.

Where can I buy Arrows of Detonatin in BG2?

I have both pairs of pantaloons, so the frag grenade will be mine soon! :D

How is that assassin coming along?
I don't think you can buy arrows of detonation in bg2. I don't even think you can find them unless they are random loot... so make sure you check every chest and every corpse if you want them.

Assassin is coming along well. I finished Mae'Var (took the short Sword of Backstabbing...screw the thief guild) and now I am heading to Watcher's Keep for some power leveling. I think I am level 14.

I am not having any trouble hitting anything. I think my THACO is around 4 when I am hidden, that was my biggest worry.

Yeah I don't think I had trouble hitting anything either, only really missed a backstab on a critical miss.
The assassin is so cool!

They're random loot - got lucky and found a bunch in one game (during which I just happened to be playing an assassin).
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

Staff of the ram +6
Thac0 +6
Damage 1d6+12 crushing, 1d4 piercing.
Combat abilities. 15% chance opponent is knocked back and stunned.

I know that the 1d6+12 is multiplied in the backstab, not sure about the 1d4.

I think Greater Whirlwind is the most powerful high-level ability in the game. First of all, Use Any Item is of not much use if you're dead, methinks. With the right weapon, character with Greater Whirlwind can cut through any character like a damn axe through butter. Protection spells can easily be breached with Carsomyr and other weapons with elemental damage will disrupt the spells the mage is trying to use. There is one problem, however, and time stop is the source of it. So what you do is, you run in, and attack and hope he never casts time stop. Of course, this can be a bit tough if the mage sets up multiple protection spells via contingency, but once the fighter lands his first hit, the dillema can be largely ignored.

Problem with unlimited backstabbing via staff of magi via Use Any Item skill, is that it's no fun! But a mage could easily defeat him, using sunfire and dragon's breath and time stop and improved alacrity and true sight. No one character is more powerful than all others; they have one weakness. Otherwise, the game is trash (like early on in Diablo II, where barbarians were unstoppable and amazons had that bug). And Baldur's Gate saga, in my opinion, is an excellently balanced game. But in conclusion, Greater Whirlwind is of my greatest personal favor.
BAH. I wish you all well on this relatively good day.

I concur. Greater Deathblow will only make it easier to defeat enemies you should be able to defeat anyway. UAI is very powerful though, but I think only for soloers.

Grandpa, what does that do exactly? I never played with a bard myself but had Haer'Dalis in my party, and when he got higher levels I always chose the special traps abilites for him. (I found those useful, true). But never used the Bard Song or Scribe Scrolls stuff...

Hmmm... i've just finished soloing with a blade and i'm looking for a little more challenges. Has anyone ever soloed an assasin with tactics/ascension/unfinished business, and thus can tell me it is possible to do that?

The most overpowered HLA must be UAI indeed. There's nothing more funny than a mirror imaged stoneskinned misleaded blade wielding Carsomyr :)
