The *BIG* mods

Post by serjeLeBlade »

My 56K modem can't afford downloads of more than, say 30 Mb.
But let's say that a friend of mine with a really fast connection volounteered to dl something for me and burn it on cd.

This is a one-time opportunity, so I have to coose... Among all the existing mods for SoA/ToB charaterized by outrageous sizes, which one would you suggest?

(I'd make it a poll, but I'm interested even in mods that I don't know of!) ;)

Thanks in advance for all the opinions

And about who we could be, we actually have trouble in clearly defining the term "to be" in the first place...

Well I currently play with Valen and Soloflein,
their realy fun to play.
Also Ascension and tactics seem to be pretty good.
See this thread Baldursgatefan has some good links.
But a CD is 700mb large, that are alot of mod's!
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

I'm sorry to have to say it Stilgar, but you don't seem to have focused the problem at all!

I've Sola and Valen and Tactics and almost everything smaller than 30Mb already.

I'm asking about the mods that are LARGER than that.
The darkest day, to say one, is about 300Mb.
And a cd is *not* very likely to hold "alot" of them... :(

Got it now? ;)

Sorry, my mistake.
I'm not realy into the big mod's (although I have a cable connection)
I played TDD but never finished it, to buggy.
Maybe it's better now.
And about the other once, never tried them (jet)
but I will keep an eye in this thread
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

TDD is worth playing once but I wouldn't waste my time with it if your resources are limited.

Thanks for the warning... Actually, I was fearing that.
But is there some of those gigantic mods that *is* worth playing .... more than once?

I haven't played it myself, but Tortured Souls seems to be becoming fairly popular. I'd also keep an eye on the Big Picture mod, which aims to make TDD, SoS and TS compatible.

I am downloading Tortured Souls right now (300mb in size). It was mentioned in the forums that it requires a clean install which might disrupt my current games a bit. AFAIK, no one here has tried it. Fable was asking a couple of threads ago. Will search around a bit more for "post mortems" of the mod before trying it out myself.

"Harder Oasis" from the same site, although not qualified as big, is really fun. The soldiers in the practice area in ToB can make short work of any unwary player.

Whether you find any, or play it and have a reaction yourself, please post and let us all know. :)

Mirrors for the download of TDD can be found here. Fileplanet is, however, the primary download location.

Well......I know of these mirrowsites....but thats not what I need.

Just like Serje, A friend of mine is willing too download this stuff and put it on cd-rom......but hes actually not willing to stand in line all the time

Now.......except for Fileplanet, there are 2 more links with the full version. But these are in polish and russian......and I have no idea on which link to press then in order for a download...

Problemo...

Thanks 4 the replay anyway though
